    What's new?

Several Vancouver Canucks fans seeing Game 3 in Boston Monday night say they were verbally and physically assaulted by Bruins supporters when the on-ice violence spilled over the boards, first into the stands and then onto the street.

Canucks fans who spoke to CTV News claim the crowd inside TD garden was outraged by their presence, saying some took out their anger on the Vancouver fans who traveled thousands of kilometres to Beantown to watch.

Rob Young said the tension inside the arena was so high that taunts quickly turned to violence, with one Bruins fan head butting a nearby Vancouver supporter.

"The Boston guy went for a head butt and head butted one of the Vancouver fans and it started a big kafuffle right away," Young told CTV News.

"And to the credit of Vancouver fans, they backed away and then the cops came pretty quickly."

Spencer Sangara said he left the game early after experiencing two hours of taunting and provoking.

"People were confronting us, trying to fight us in the hallways and stuff like that," he told CTV News in Boston.

"And even out on the streets after it was a mob like walking back to the hotel. A guy tried to pull us out of the cab and was like trying to confront us there."

A group of female Canucks-jersey clad fans said they had pepper thrown at them by men wearing Bruins jerseys.

"They're not very nice. We're very accepting of the whole thing and they're very, very mean," one said.

    Re: What's new?

Been sitting in the balcony the whole series. There have been plenty of Vancouver fans enjoying the game all around me and I've seen very few instances of Nucks fans being harassed and having stuff thrown at them.

If you don't expect to get booed in the opposing stadium, I think you're just naive. If you think this is bad, try coming down with a Habs jersey. Only difference is that Habs fans know not to run their mouth.

In game 3, Rome laid a dirty hit on one of the Bs best players. That definitely didn't help things.

    Here is the story
    http://m.ctv.ca/bc/20110607/bc_angry_fans_110607.html

And here is the part the OP troll conveniently left off.

But tormented Canucks fans will get no sympathy from Milan Lucic, an East Vancouver-raised Boston Bruin, who says even his own family has been the subject of ribbing.

"I remember after Game 1 in Vancouver people were throwing popcorn and peanuts at my grandparents. That's about as low as it gets," he said during a media scrum at the arena.

Joe Fallon, a concierge at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, says he's heard it all before from visiting fans, but things usually stay civil.

"There are some goofballs in the crowd that's the worst I could say in any sports city mostly. In Boston, we try to stay well behaved," Fallon said.

The Boston police refused an interview request by CTV on Tuesday, however a spokesperson said the crowd after the game was "generally well behaved" and met their expectations.

My brother and I went to Boston for games 3 & 4. I found the behavior of Bruins fans towards us to be appalling. We were pushed and shoved, insulted, threatened, and even had beer thrown on us from some fat a** loser. We were told all Canadians should die. This I laughed at, and reminded the loud mouths that 17 of their players are Canadian, their coach, GM, and two biggest hockey icons, Ray Bourque and Bobby Orr, Canadian.
A friend of my brother's had marbles thrown at him, two others had their wives verbally assaulted. Using racial slurs and calling them who***
We were told about a group of girls in Canucks jerseys who were pepper sprayed. Fans were been punched and pissed on in the washrooms.
And all this with Bruins wins. I can't image how much worse it would have been if the Canucks had won one or even both of those games.

    here's another :

I was at both games in Boston, and can echo the comments of most at how classless the Bruins faithful were. I believe I am in an excellent position to comment on the relative behaviour of fans, as I was in San Jose for Games 3 and 4 and have been to 20+ opposition arenas to cheer on the Canucks. I can unequivocally say that my experience in Boston was the worst, and the bad press that Boston and their fans are getting is well-deserved. Yeah, there were some good and classy fans, but the sheer number and percentage of idiots was astounding.

    Just as an example:

    - Canucks fans at The Fours started chanting "Go Canucks Go". After that chant, the Boston fans starting chanting "You are Gay". Really?

    - When I was in the bathroom, one fan started yelling "You ******" and similar other homophobic slurs. I responded with "stay classy", to which he said "why do I have to stay classy?". Way to go, bud.

    - The sheer number of times we heard "Go home Canadian" or "Go back to Vancouver" was hilarious. Almost always by clowns with Orr, Neely, Lucic, Bergeron, O'Reilly, etc. jerseys.

    - There were a number of Canucks fans of East Indian descent at the bars and games. I heard "terrorist" references at least a dozen times.

    - At Game 4, a fight broke out in the stands between Boston fans. One guy landed on a few of my friends, and blood from this idiot went all over my friend's jersey and back/neck. Yet it was my friends who got escorted out with no apologies.

    - After Game 4, a group of 12-year-old hooligans were shoving their fingers in the faces of oncoming Canucks fans (real original). Cops were standing idly by doing nothing.

    - I can't count the number of times people thought they were being nice by saying to us, at least you're not "Frenchies" or from Quebec.

This is just what I can think of off the top of my head. At the end of the day, Boston came off as an ignorant, homophobic, racist, misogynistic city to me and many others. The good people were outnumbered by the bad. I had been to Boston a few times in the past, and will never go back to spend my dollars there. Its reputation is well-deserved.

Oh, and if I never hear the New England accent again it will be too soon.

    Re: What's new?

is this yet another glaring example of a canuck whining to the press? if the bruins have fans that are not too classy, the canucks have a team that's not too classy. that god it's not the fans that will decide who wins the cup. it'll be the 20 guys wearing black and gold that will do that. i was once forearm shivered in the chest by a guy walking in the opposite direction leaving a buffalo bills game(in buff). oh yeah,  i was wearing a dolpins jersey and waiving a flag after a dolphins win. i considered myself lucky to get to the car in one piece. the funny thing is the guy just kept walking(never looked back), like he does it after every buffalo loss. so yeah, boston fans are SO MEAN!!! this never happens anywhere else! wehhh, wehhh, wehhh... please.

btw, i was also showered by beer for 3 1/2 hours taboot.  this is all to be expected, i would have questioned whether their fans were going soft, had none of this happened. this was mid-nineties bills/dolphins...big time hate between these teams.

There's a poster here who went to the game in Vancouver and had a beer thrown in her face by a Vancouver fan.  So stop all this whining.  There are plenty of bad fans -- if you want to go to a Stanley Cup game in an opposing city you are taking on a certain level of risk.  Have thick skin.  People calling you names isn't that big of a deal.  I wish there was no violence at the games, but neither you or I can stop it.

Let's talk hockey (which I'm sure is what you would be doing if you're team won last night).

Also, it's just a tad hypocritical to call the Boston fans classless when you are lighting up your posts with expletives and taunts...
