What's the highest level you played?

I'm declaring it summertime and am officially starting the 'have you ever named a pet after a Bruin' type thread.

So have you played, do you still play and at what level?

I played for Quinnipiac way back last century in the late 70's when they were Quinnipiac College (not University) and think they were d3.  Also played high school.

I played in Middle School. ha.

I currently play in a B/C league and a D league (I stick to defense in that one).

I played goal till I got out of grade 12...( i actually used this umpires mask for goal ),,,then moved to Jasper where I reinvented myself as a bad defenceman in commerical hockey for 14yrs. I've just dropped 115lbs and I plan on getting the blades on and seeing how old timmers will feel next winter.

    Hmm probably a toss up.

I played with Juniors for a bit in my town after  HS season ended, only practiced though no games. Too small at 5'8 and a defenseman.

I also played in on the southeast Mass team during hockey night in boston summer showcase. Brian Boyle was on the other mass team.

Didn't really like him back then, still dont like him now.

I was there the 1st year it was founded (2005 or 2006, i forget), through the times when we were not an official club and had to fund the whole thing ourselves, through several seasons with one of the worst hockey coaches I've ever had at any level. This guy made Coach McKay look like Claude Julien. In fact, he was such a disgrace that the University told us we would not get club status unless he was fired; refs literally came over to thank us before the start of games. It was a blast though, my teammates were awesome. The club experience is pretty fantastic way to roll at UMass, as I'm sure you know.

I quit halfway through the season we ended up going to Nationals because I had a vicious addiction to World of Warcraft and my grades were dropping, but I came back the next year.

    How's the team doing?

that's me second from the left.

I was a pond hockey specialist, able to deke around the most clever of otters (Joel Otter was very difficult I remember) but taken down by a well placed fishing hole on occasion.

CCAA (tier-two Canadian college hockey) and I still lace them up in an over 30women's league.

Wife's got me beat though, playing CIAU, semi-pro, and getting as far as Team Canada training camp. She's switching sports now though and going into ice-cross. .

Bantams and High School for me. When I was stationed at the Air Force Academy in my late 30's, the cadets were constantly tring to get me on the ice. Not a freakin chance, they would have used me as a zamboni! Plus, I was known as a hitter when I played...probably no skill left at that point. I would have broken the boards, ala Shawn Thornton. Lots of intent, but not the skill to finish the job.

I did the same hcg treatment that the opera singer of the Vancouver Canucks went on. I did 2 sessions and lost 50lbs each time. I can only speak of my personal experience. It worked. I'm now back hiking with a full back pack and I'm going to get a half season golf pass here at JPL. I haven't had a golf pass for 5yrs now as I told myself I would not get another pass until I could walk the golf course. And I now can !..Thank gawd for that.

Athletic family, could not play basketball cause I fouled out 5 minutes into the game.  I loved baseball, and pitched as a starter in hs.  I loved hockey early but there were no programs in hs hockey circa 1965 in Rocehster, NY.  Me Dad took me to Rochester Amerks games, absolutely loved the physical part of the play. My older brother was a gymnast champion on the side horse the same year.  Me other brother was a shire bowl football player in NH in 1973.  My other sibilings were all athletes.  So if the thread means if you did not play then you don't know, then kzz me azz.  I am an avid hockey fan and I do know how the game is played.  I always respect those who played.

Sorry a low moment, I would like to know where all you regulars played and at what level.  My daughter met Ray Bourque a  few years ago in his restuarant, she is a looker, and she got a signed picture from him, it is on the walls near my computer with other artifacts of hockey, Neil Young, Bernie Boston poster, Johnny Hickman signed Palmenge poster (Cracker guitar player) and 700 cds, several thousand near mint baseball cards from the 60s, and I also have hockey relatives in Sweden (EnKoping).  With much respect, Cheers!

Nope, not at all.  I always have more respect for someone who played something competitively than nothing at all.

No hockey for me, I just was not good at it no matter how hard I tried. Played football competitively up until junior in college but an increasingly bad back forced me to evolve into an armchair pundit.

MTHL for Dorset Park Bruins.  The next step up was Metro Junior B for Scarborough Young Bruins.  That was it.  Had trouble getting my 'fro in my helmet.  Kidding.  Have no idea if these teams are even still around.

Played until Bantam and haven't put on equipment since.  Switched to Curling.  I thought about joining rec leagues but it seemed to me people took themselves way too seriously.  Never got back into it, but I wish I did.  I'm afraid it's a little late now.
