    What's the matter with Krejci?

Disclaimer:  I have been chief engineer on the David Krejci fan club trolley for a while and he is one of my favorite Bruins...

...but, I'm not seeing his hussle or creativity really showing so far this year.  He was dangerous on every shift in the playoffs last year.  He even hit, retrieved pucks, and was setting guys up right and left.  Has he regressed a little?

I wanted to be patient with the guy, but his game is still not there after 30 games.  Of course, I'm not saying "trade the guy" or "he stinks", but I am starting wonder what's going on with him.  Dear God, don't let that wrist injury be like the de-spleening of Matt Hunwick, where he was never as good as he had been afterwards.

Any thoughts or insights in Krejci?  Don't say linemates -- he's torn it up with Wheeler and Ryder before...

Didn't you listen to Bob Cole when he called the fight with Cammalerri?    Krejci has changed roles and is now the Bruins 'tough guy'    LOL

Whatever is wrong with Krejci seems to be contagious and going through the whole team.

Re: What's the matter with Krejci?

Bim09 actually brought up a good fact that coaches like Laviolette, Carlisle, Ruff and Maurice do when they play the Bruins. "Double the slot" I've been watching closer after Bim mentioned this. Teams are daring Boston's D to take as many shots as they want as the wingers drop down to double both Lucic and Horton. As we've seen our Dmen are lousy at hitting the net with any accuracy and never look for Krejci to tip shots from the blueline he's great at it.

Sorry Fletcher but Horton's "compete level" (yah I know another cliche) has been horrific and he can't just wait around for Krejci's feeds. Opposing teams are keying on David n Horton has been no help as of late. Montreal, Carolina, Philly, Buffalo and Anaheim games should be the game films that Krejci should watch and he would see that he needs to shoot more as does Savard.

PS. Yes that's myself and N0.4BobbyOrrGOAT in the stands drunk yelling SHOOT!!!!

De-spleening!  That's fabulous.  Thanks, Fletch...you just made me snort out loud at work.  So much for stealth message boarding.

Seems both he and savard are  opting for the easy play(no-look pass to the opponents)right now. After seeing Bergeron take literally years to get back to form,I wonder if they don't both have slight head issues right now.Seems both players are close to where they need to be but the margin of error in the NHL is razor thin.

Sorry, I know it sounds a bit like the title of a gay porno, but I don't know what that precedure is called...

Sandog, I think you have a point about Horton and the need for Krejci to shoot more.  On the flipside we (I) always said 'gee wouldn't it be great to have a sniper like Horton for Krejci to pass to'...

And yes, I guess according to Bob Cole David Krejci is the Bruin's enforcer so I should cut him some slack.  No need to have announcers that actually follow hockey, eh?  Freakin' Habs homers...

Okay, I know I will be jumped on for this.  Probably deservedly so.  Here goes anyways:

This is a thought process I found myself in last night.  What is Krejčí's offensive M.O.?  He slows things down.  He waits for plays to develop.  What has this team done too often lately?  Not skate fast enough.  Wait for something to happen.

Could he be part of the problem?  Are the other players emulating his attitude too much?

    Edit:  splenectomy

Not only overated but too light and gets knocked around.....he seems either sick or injured and rarely shoots opting to pass...his shootout attempts have been awful...he gets the flu bug every season and now has caught the " cloditis" bug from the rest of the team...I for one am tired of waiting for Krejci to reach his so called star ability......he will never be among the elite!

Re: What's the matter with Krejci?

Dr.CC your point is well taken, but, in Kreji's case he is in the offensive  zone, and his wings should be moving to open spots. The real lethargy comes from Chara. When he starts to come up ice the rest of the on-ice Bruins slow down to watch, and, more often than not, he zips a long pass that misses and goes for icing. Why is this? Coaching?? When Bergeron starts up ice, Kreji or others break towards open ice and he hits them in stride, notice that Kamfer does the same. The key is a good pass, and too few of the Bruins can do it. Kreji can do it, but, Claude's system of 2 in and 1 back negates more than one pass. Again, the problem is in coaching. Did anyone notice how well Atlanta did, in Toronto, under the coaching leadership of " Rammer " ?

Agreed. And i get bashed every single time for saying it. Overrated doesn't mean the kid is not a good player, he is. But, i have heard people on this board claiming he can be better than Nicklas Backstrom (WHAT!?!?). Others have compared him to Pavel Daytsuk,(WHAT!?!? 100x)

I love Krejci and he's a talented center but, like Bergeron, he needs good players around him to be "great". Personally, id'e take Bergeron over Krejci anytime. Patrice is a better all-around player, scored 52pts playing with stone-hands Paille for 85% of the year last season.

People just get all warm and fuzzy about Krejci's fancy style. We're here to win hockey games, not figure skate (Not a knock on Krejci). David is one of my favorite players but honesty overtakes bias in this argument.

So I suppose Backstrom would be just as good without Ovie,Semin,Greene, etc. All good players need a supporting cast.

Did you not watch Backstrom in WJ's? The bruins tried to trade Kessel (and another pick) for him at the 2006 draft.

Nicklas is a hell of a player....

Not to scare you, Fletch, but remember Jason Allison and Sergei Samsonov and Adam Oates, and and and.  Wrist injuries are a beech for slick players.  It hurts them on the boards, it hurts their passing, it hurts their shot.

I think Dr. CC is right in part.  Krejci's at his best when the game has pace and he can step outside of the frenzy and cut through the flow with a pass or a rush.  Right now, there's nothing to slow down.  Everything is glacial.

Re: What's the matter with Krejci?

To me it looks like both Krejci and Savard are a little scared bc of their concussions.  Bergeron, Wheeler, Ryder and Recchi are playing their typical self.  Horton is not as good as I thought so far and Seguin is playing like he is scared to make a mistake.  Maybe he thinks CJ will ground him if he does.  I like the play of Lucic and the fourth line.

All I want is for them to make top 4 in the playoffs and be healthy going in.

Nothing is wrong with Krejci. He's been great this year and has been our best forward. The problem is that he has our two most dangerous weapons on his line and can only hit one of them with each individual pass.

We need to split Horton and Lucic. We're all about depth but all of our offensive eggs are being put in the Krejci basket. Put one of them (preferrably Horton...seen some sparks) with Savard and see what happens!

Not excusting Krejci for his subpar play but I think he got caught standing still because he was stunned at how crappy Seids played this rush.  Allowed Selanee to walk in the zone and then when he gives up the shot to Selanee, Seids decides to rush out at the POINT man to block the shot.  One mistake after another with him lately.

God I hope you're wrong about the wrist.

I think you and DrCC are right about the pace.  Hard to change the pace when their isn't any.  Instead of Nathan Horton playing Boston Bruins hockey he appears to have brought Florida Panthers hockey to Boston, and it's contagious.

Maybe he looked at his paycheck and finally realized  he was the 8th  highest paid player on the team...and is playing like it..

I have said this guy is not 1st line material.. maybe he is not comfortable playing other teams top players.. He thrived on third line before because he was up against other clubs second tier players and he and Wheeler and Ryder were good line for the B's.. but somehow Claude has refused to re unite this line..
I would like Seguin to play with Bergeron ,and Savard to go back to playing with Lucic and Horton..
