Who Does Marchand remind you of

A young Recci i'm kool with that. Koivu, humm  not really,  Koivu always waited for the refs to  show  up  to get in the  mix, Marchy on the oposite, will not hesitate to confront players on his own without the  protection of the  stripes.

Which slow scoring team are you talking about?
The Bruins currently sit seventh in goals for.

That's a bit agressive for me.  I see him as a hard skating young player right now who's shining bright on a slow scoring team.  Sure would be great if he turned into something bigger!

I like the earlier Burridge comparison- with a bit of Nevin Markwart thrown in (for the speed and agitation factor).

Re: Who Does Marchand remind you of

The Pat Verbeek comparison is a very good one, and i can see why people mention Brierre.  I think of him as his own player, but in terms of what he brings to the bruins I think of players like esa tikkanen, claude lemieux, guys who brought a ton of passion, grit and sandpaper, good under pressure, and had underated hockey skill.  This kind of guy is key to championships.  A guy with edge that is good enough to play on your top 3 lines.  I've been a big fan of what he brings since he's junior days.  A lot of people don't realize he was a prolific scorer then.  He can easily be a 20+ goal scorer, and I like that he doesn't go over the edge like guys like Avery or Ott.

Regardless of who he reminds us of, I am just glad he has been given an opportunity by the team. I'm not saying Hammil and Colbourne have been mismanaged, but it's nice to see one the Bruins' skilled/talented forwards develop.

Though I'm on a grad student's salary, I have my eye on a Marchand jersey soon.

Has always reminded me of mix between a young Teddy Donato in terms of hockey sense and Jeff Lazaro in terms of peskiness. I think Marchand can develop into a solid 40-pt 3d liner who could be with the team a long time.  He's already a  PK specialist and one of the top SHG guys in the league.  I like him a lot on this team.

Verbeek was my first thought but Linesman is a good comparison as well.If he improves his shot a bit,20-25 goals a season is not far fetched.

He's more physical than Axelsson.   He reminds me of Ken Linesman even though "the rat" was a centerman.

Current day, he reminds of Chad LaRose, both in style/skill set and body size.

Re: Who Does Marchand remind you of

Not even close to Kenny Linseman.  Linseman was always one of the smartest guys on the ice.  Completely different game - the only grounds for comparison are yappiness and that Marchand has a fraction of Linseman's overall offensive talent.

Verbeek makes more sense to me, as does John MacLean, as does Bobby Schmautz in a way.  Burridge yes and no.  He has the kind of talent and game to show up in big moments and be that guy who turns a one-on-one to a game-winning odd man rush or pick off a pass at the blueline and score a series clinching short-hander.  John Madden in his hey-day.

Actually, maybe a pauper's Doug Gilmour - St. Louis era.  Same sense of the right moment to step up and do something about it.
