[QUOTE]No on Kaberle. Not enough bang for the buck... and for the first time in a long time, the B's won't be picking at scraps this summer. Here's the money coming off the books: Ryder- $4M Recchi- $2M Kaberle- $4.25M Hnidy- $0.5M Scaefer- $0.75M (buyout) Savard- $4M (LTIR/retirement) Chara- $0.6M (new contract starts, lower cap #) Assuming Marchand (RFA) signs a deal for around $2M, which is around what I would expect the cap to increase by considering the new NHL/TV deal, that puts us in a situation of having around $16M of cap space. We need to put together essentially a whole new forward line (replace Recchi, Ryder, Savard), a stud d-man (to "replace" Kaberle) and a depth d-man. Let's assume Caron ($1.1M) takes Recchi's spot, and Kampfer ($0.85M) is your depth D (instead of Hnidy). Let's also assume that they make Seguin a regular and essential slots in for Ryder. That leaves you $14M for a forward (center/wing depending on what they decide Seguin is and if they think Krejci is a #1 center) and a d-man. With that much wiggle room, the B's can make a serious impact... even dare to drop some offer sheets on the likes of Yandle or Parise if so inclined and the opportunity presents itself. Take a run at Brad Richards. For the first time since the Chara/Savard signings in '06, we're going to be in a VERY good spot. They can even do more in trades because they can agree to take on salary.

Ryder wont resign for $4MM .....maximum ...$2.75 and forget Recchi he is gone ...unless he want to sign for $500,000 and sits 1 game out of two...cause Seguin, Caron, and Sauve-Knight or Spooner will make the roster...

[QUOTE]Let him go BUT make sure we get an NHL ready North American defensman this summer -- another reason I can't believe they traded Stuart. (Not to go on a tangent, but Wheeler for Peverly would have been fine, why throw in Stuart for Valabik??? This deal really still hurts. Stuart was a guy who always stepped it up in the playoffs -- a real Shupey kind of guy, I'd say)

    Stuart for Valabik=$$$$$$
    And yes,re-sign Kaberle.

Wrong. Get rid of him. Getting rid of Wideman was addition by subtraction. All these "PMD" are a bunch of useless sissies. Go get a real defenseman. We sure could use Stuart for this run!

I liked Stuart a lot but I don't think another stay-at-home D is what Boston needs to make a run.

Why would any want to resign Kaberle when we can see how well Wisniewski is playing for Montreal?  and it would not surprize me it Wisniewski signes for less.

I agree you can find a much better PP specialist for cheaper!

I don't get this love affair with Wisniewski in this series.  I have not been overly impressed with his play.

I take Kaberle over all those available, and for what the B's paid for him, yes they HAVE to resign him..We have not seen the best of Kaberle though I am sure we will.I wonder if CJ's system suits his game though.

    Re: Who says resign Kaberle?

Yes lets pay our #5 Defenceman 5 plus million dollars a season.  That a great idea.  I don't know if anyone noticed by Julien changed the D-pairing after the second game and since then the only D-man with less ice time than Kaberele is McQuaid.  Less icetime for Kaberle means better chance to win for the Bruins.

    Re: Who says resign Kaberle?

When the trade for Kaberle was first made I was all for resigning him to an extension.  Now I'm not so sure.  Good player, not great.  With age not on his side, IMO the deal has to be a "hometown discount" for the Bruins.  If Kaberle is looking for the richest contract he can get on the open market then I say let him walk.  Overall I have not been impressed.  Especially when considering the primary reason he was brought here was to QB the PP and to this point it is no better now than before?  That said is he really worth $5MM a year?  Not in my eyes.  I trade for Yandle even if Krecji is part of the deal.

    Re: Who says resign Kaberle?

And most importantly if this Habs series does not work out right, it is possible that PC and CJ will no longer be running the show.  If that is the case, a new GM and coach may not have the man crush on Kaberle that PC does?  $4MM+ is a lot a cap space in hockey...

    Re: Who says resign Kaberle?

He went on some nice dangles in the offensive one and he needs to do more than  that.  He's got to be aggressive offensively and I'm not sure if the CJ system will allow that.
