    Will Stafford get fine/suspension?

Will the league even look at the play?  Probably not.  Does Stafford have a history?  Yes

I'm glad someone else finally brought it up. I was starting to think my brother and I were the only ones who saw the blatant (and purposeful) elbow.

History or no history.  Yes. He attempted to do that and succeeded.  This team has been classic for allowing these hits to go without a response.

I will say two games.  I thought Stuart was gonna get looked at as well but this is much clearer that his intent was to hit him with an elbow.

I think it got lost in the shuffle Dez.  I clearly saw it and then everyone went Scott or chara is brutal on me.

cant get more clear with what he was doing.  Suspended should be a sure thing.

Lost in the shuffle of the Scott Thornton TKO, was the fact that it was obvious to me, and I think most, that Shawn was hurt, why didn't the linesmen escort him to the room to be evaluated immediately?  Thankfully nothing bad happened while he was sitting in the box, but it sure could have.  Whoever speaks with the officials and linesman regarding their performance needs to rip this crew a new one.

My question, is why haven't any of the Bruins beat writers talked about it, they were at the morning skate.  No mention of whether it is even being reviewed.

I'm pretty sure Thornton was refusing to go to the room. It looked like the officials were even trying to suggest ST go to the room but I'm sure he was trying to act like he wasn't hurt. Too embarrassed to leave right away.

I don't doubt it.  However, the league should step in and mandate that if their officials suspect brain trauma, the player can not refuse to be evaluated.  They can add it to the quiet room clause.  These guys go off all the time for repairs from cuts, yet they won't go off for a brain injury.  Doesn't make much sense to me, but I understand the whole macho thing.  Take it out of their hands.

I concur with this.  But this likely would mean sending the loser of every fight to the dark room. I can't think of anything more humiliating unless they make them wear I just lost that fight t-shirt.

On ones as clear as last night I completely agree.

Beers and Goucher were all over it last night, but they dropped it pretty quickly.  It appears that Ruff instructed his players to hit to hurt whenever possible.  It would be nice to see Stafford get some of his own medicine, but as we all know, the Bruins player who landed an elbow to his kisser would get tossed from the game and a lengthy suspension.

I'm not being a homer when I say for sure that Marchand would've been suspended for doing that.

Yes for sure.  And the player he elbowed would have played dead on the ice.  Not a big brad an but Ott took a healthy run at him last night and that sturdy turd just bounced off it.  His balance is sick.

The kid is at least making an effort to be more of a player and less of a pest. That was quite a goal he scored last night.

I haven't seen much of the other stuff at all.  Sometimes he needs it but his skill can't be denied.  His balance on his skates reminds me of Sid.  Low balance and can't be moved off the puck. Hard as heck to play against.

I love the nose face killa, but he needs to keep his trapper shut post game.  Talking about Skinner the other day, and then talking about Ruff's timeout, he needs to check himself onces in awhile.  Just seems like he has been the mouthpiece for the team in the media this week, leave it to the captains and coaches to answer those questions.

I have no issue with any of his recent comments. He gets treated differently than Skinner (for example) and I'm glad he called Skinner out for a dirty play. Guys develop reps as dirty when other players start talking about them. Skinner is a kicker and now he's also a slew footer. As far as Ruff goes, Marchand just said basically the exact same thing we all wrote on here last night. It's not like Marchand will be targeted more by the Sabres now that he said what everybody felt. Ruff having the nerve to claim his move was only in response to CJ having MacDermid on the ice is an added insult to our intelligence.

Apparently not even being looked at since I have heard NOTHING today! In fact, on several other blogs, many suggest Hamilton embellished the hit too much to take a serious review of the play. Bruins can't expect any breaks since winning the Cup.

Some "conspiracy theories" just have no relevance behind the thought .

Why would the NHL base any type of decision on whether a team has won a cup or not ?
"You've won your cup. Now, we're not going to make a proper judgement because of that."

    It really makes no sense.

He did go down like he was hit by a .50 cal and stayed down for a bit.  When someone gets tagged in the mouth at a level that might cause pain, there is swelling and blood, right?  I didn't see either when he returned from the dressing room.

    I forgot about this play.

Winning the Cup has no relevance.  As Chowda points out, that doesn't even make sense.

    Re: Will Stafford get fine/suspension?

Stafford threw an intentional elbow square to Doug's face... whether it did any damage or whether Doug embellished only changes the penalty. But no penalty was called.

So I believe winning the Cup (or the WAY in which you win the Cup) certainly has some relevance... just not in the way you are suggesting. This team is known as being Big and Bad. Players may take more liberties (or feel they have to.) Refs may allow more. It happens.
