I believe the 10.3m TPE expired back in July.

And Thornton and Zeller and the future first round pick became invisible?

Supposedly, the $10.3M trade exception got us Marcus Thornton and Tyler Zeller and a #1 pick , am I correct ?

If that is what Ainge got for the $10.3M TE, then that is quite a haul........nice move Danny !

Re: 10.3m TPE Useless if Celts go Under the Cap

Fungus was adamant that the C's would be under the cap (as he predicts almost every year) since they would be forced to rebuild once unable to land Love. Part of his tankapalooza strategy called for dumping the core for vets and the non-essentials for cap space (to be used in 2016?) so he was sure that there was no way Danny would ever use the TPE ....

Hence, "are we under the cap yet?"

We most likely would have been under the cap if we did not use the TPE.  As long as they don't go over the luxury tax, it is a good investment using the expiring TPE for Zeller and the first round pick.  No need for cap room now and there is a path to have good cap room in the future if Ainge does not continue to splurge when resigning players.

    [/QUOTE]. Oops forgot about that.

As far as this board goes yes.  All we've heard on here the past two months has been Rondo this, Rondon't that.  And an occasional GK sighting hoping that Jimmy pulls a rabbit out of the hat.

Id say Danny did well on using the TPE whether he was over or under the cap.

He will be under the cap for next summer or 2016. This year does not matter as far as cap goes.

Kudos to DA for a smart use of the TPE...he's NOT a dullard GM afterall!

Read the title of the thread.

Celts didn't go under the cap.

That's why Ainge was able to use the 10.3m TPE on Thornton and Zeller.

Like I said, if a team goes under the cap, all the exceptions will be renounced.
