    Re: 2013 SPURS = 2014 CELTICS?

There are big differences between the Spurs and Celtics. 1. Approach to draft. The Spurs take the approach that they get to pick one of the best young players in the world regardless of when the pick. The Celtics take the approach that unless you are getting a lottery pick you are not going to be a good pick. 2. The Spurs take the time to develop their rookies. Doc Rivers is known to not care for rookies. 3. The Spurs sign free agents that contribute. The Celtics haven't had very good luck in this department. 4. The Spurs try to fill their roster to make them a balanced team. Danny Ainge is obsessed with wing players while ignoring key positions (Center, PG). I agree that the Celtics can compete with KG, Pierce, and Rondo. The unfortunate thing is that Danny Ainge has neglected this team horribly since '08. Boston needs a lot of pieces to be able to compete for a title. The Spurs make great personnell decisions every year. That is why they continue to challenge for the title.

The Spurs have better personnel all the way up and down the roster.  The Celtics are a deeply flawed team now they can't rebound in a tight game nor can they score in crunch time.

    Why not us?

Well because the Spurs have the best GM and coach in the league and we don't. They have executed a multi-year plan to perfection. We haven't.

Tony Parker is better and more durable than Rondo...

    the list goes on....

    In response to Kirk6's comment:

The Spurs have a better coach.

Was this the same coach that the Spurs announcers on the radio were saying that the players playing OT for the Spurs had been out there way too long?   A lot of the 4th quarter and most of the OT?    Would Doc have kept Duncan, Parker, Manu, Green, and Leonard on the Floor that much?  Would Doc have got roasted for not giving players a breather?

+1 Folks are very one sided here. Pops is a great coach, but yesterday he was looking like he was shock frozen. He got seriously outcoached by Jackson in this game. It was almost embarassing to watch the spurs being so helpless, when they choked away the lead.

    But:

Doc is an idiot, cause he doesn't go for rebounds. The spurs, okc and miami also doesn't do it, but their coaches are great.

Doc is an idiot for his minute management. Thibs on the other hand is great, even though he overplays Deng all season long and now kills buttler while hamilton and cook are glued on the bench.
