One thing that raised eyebrows was that, asked about the looming extension deadline for Avery Bradley, Ainge admitted he's been in negotiations with Bradley's camp but wouldn't comment further. That's a departure from last month when Ainge suggested that the team might wait until next summer, when Bradley would be a restricted free agent, to revisit his future with the team.

That is an interesting turn of events! Not certain what the motive is here, i.e. lock him up long term, or facilitate a trade down the road!

Danny Ainge probably did say that about Austin Rivers.  Probably just trying to throw doc a bone...make some gm's think other guys want austin.

To me, Austin has been disappointing thus far.

I have no problem giving Bradley an extension as long as it's for 5m per year.
My gut feeling is that AB will be traded this year in some kind of a deal including Wallace.  AB can be a complementary, off the bench game changer for a quality team.  Whatever return he brings is used to incentivize a Wallace trade.

It seems like Danny is showcasing Wallace, AB and Jordan Crawford.

    I would never extend Bradley.

Let someone else over pay him.

i think 3-4m per year would be safe enough

I won't profess to know what will happen, but letting him walk at 7.5m per year is not stupid in my book.

I don't see the problem here.

rame wants to give AB 8m per year if a team offers that to AB.

I don't want to go that far.

Before reports came out that AB's market price is 7.5m per year, I have no problem if AB gets 5m per year.

    So?

We don't dictate the market price, we're just posters on a forum for Celtic fans.

It's stupid to let AB walk for nothing if it only means 7-7.5m per year.

    Right now AB is injured.

This could mean AB's market price will drop.

    Good for the Celts.

One thing's for sure, there's a bigger chance of AB being with the Celts next season than AB going to another team.

You've been eager for AB to sign on for 4/30 for a long time.  Got it.

AB is a restricted free agent and nobody is going to offer him a long term deal right now for what he's looking for. the writing on the wall tells us that he will be in Boston for one more season at $3.58M.
I agree. The latest injury is going to scare some GMs and has dropped his value.
It depends where we end up in the lottery and who we draft. If we draft Smart do you need AB at the higher amount or do we save money for 2015-16 free agency?
