Ainge: "Rondo should be back for season opener"

    http://touch.baltimoresun.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-76736856/

This is the second time Ainge has suggested this.

If this is true The Celts aren't tanking.

I can only hope he isn't pulling another '08/09 KG situation on us.  That would be really cold and insulting to do to the most loyal fan base in the NBA...AGAIN!

Snookering fans into buying tickets in advance with the false promise that "yeah he'll be back, he'll be back" is about as low as you can get.

But hey, Ainge showed that he isn't above that garbage.  He didn't care about the kids that weRe probably crushed when KGs return was dangled like a carrot in front of them on a weekly basis then.

Misrepresenting Rondo's health in hopes to garner a trade is pretty underhanded as well.

What do you guys think? Is Ainge telling the truth, or is he being an unscrupulous shark?

IMHO he's not a doctor and should just keep his mouth shut in these situations.

OR is this about building RR's value for potential trades? DA is getting calls and is saying all the right things.......

I did touch upon this.  I agree that this is the most likely but potentially most dangerous scenario.

I'm sure that any team trading for Rondo will be insistent on Rondo's health as a contingency.

If DA says twice that Rondo will be ready by open, then at the physical the other teams DR. says not until christmas, that would be BAD.  That team will back out, DA will look like a snake, and Rondo will be coming back pissed.  Automatically it would lower Rondo's trade value, but would also make it more pressing to get him out of Boston. That would be a cluster F.

    Re: Ainge:

The other option is that he'll be back for the opener because: a. his injury and surgery were known to be less critical than that of Derrick Rose, for example; and b. he's worked very hard at his rehab and his leg(s) will be even stronger than before the injury.  This has nothing to do with trade/no trade, only his ability and timetable to play.  Ainge couldn't be so stupid as to lie and attempt to trade damaged goods when the backlash could be so negative.  Or....?

Right!  This would p!ss off the Wiggins watchers to no end.  It would be great! One minute they love DA for getting rid of PP and KG, the next they are Raptor fans!
