In response to Fierce34's comment:
I agree 100% with your assesment.
It's also not easy to get a guard who's already playing well in the Celtics' system. So there's a risk, removing Lee at this point in time might ruin the Celts team chemistry.
The Celts can't trade the 3 bigs, KG, Wilcox, and Collins, and the 4 guards, Lee, Bradley, Barbosa, and Terry. And since Pierce and Green are also key players, the only player the Celts can trade is Bass.
Bass and a 1st round pick, that's the best package Ainge can come up with that won't ruin team chemistry.
we have 4 gaurds right now and can't use any as trade chips, IMO.
I would agree that only Bass, Melo and future draft picks are trade chips now.
but Bass's contract makes moving him difficult in my opinion as well.
Melo and future draft pciks won;t get us a decent big, mostly due to salary matching problems.
which leaves us with two options:
1) a minor FA pick up or two or a player who gets a buy out and go with the basic current team
2) Trading J. Green to a team that needs/wants a starting three for a big man.
3) tearing the team apart and traing Pierce and KG for the future.
I think #1 is where Ainge ends up.
