Best Case Scenario - Total Rebuild

    *adapted from celticsblog*

Rajon Rondo's doctors convince him to sit out 2 months of the season. Stevens has the team fighting hard and learning a lot, but the wins don't come. They go on 2 different 15 game losing streaks when Green and Bradley suffer minor injuries that linger (but have no long term consequences). During these stretches, Wallace and Lee get starter minutes and both show a return to their former selves. Lee hits 45% from 3 and Wallace snags 15ppg with stingy defense. The Celtics trade Humphries and Wallace for two more big trade exceptions and another draft pick. The Celtics finish with the 6th worst record in the league and manage to win the draft lottery. Wiggins.

Drafting Wiggins is a game changer. This allows Jeff Green to be traded to UTA for their 2014 pick (5th overall) with which the Celtics pick Smart.

Rondo returns in late December and is back to full form by Allstar break. After the break, Rondo breaks out, showing much improved shooting and taking a 10 win team to .500 for the rest of the season.

Detroit is edged out by WAS, CLE, and TOR and misses the playoffs. Upset, management decided they need to do what it takes to bring in an allstar PG. They re-sign Monroe to a four year deal and trade Drummond and expiring contracts for Rondo and Courtne Lee.

    Celtics go into 2014 with:

Smart, Bradley, Wiggins, Sullinger, Drummond, Olynyk, Brooks. With excess cap space, but unwilling to sign long term deals, Boston brings home Paul and signs Gortat and Mo Williams to one year (excessive) deals. Paul mentors Wiggins and Gortat works with Drummond.

Celtics beat the Heat in the 2015 ECF and win Banner 18. They start a new big3 era with the chance at a dynasty with Smart, Wiggins and Drummond. The key to their success is having a defensive specialist (Bradley), pure scorer (Brooks), stud rebounder (Sully) and effective stretch 4 (Olynyk) to fill in around Smart, Wiggins and Drummond.

R9R does so and daydreams all day about what could have been........

NYJetssuc, Thank goodness for you and other posters who see kids like 9R9 for what and who they are. I feel bad for the guy because he doesn't seem to understand how rediculous he makes himself look and sound most of the time with his man-love for individual players, especially Rajon Rondo, of all "role models" for him. He is in a fantasy world playing NBA GM, and is hiding behind a keyboard with his name calling and tough guy approach. Cool! You guys keep me sane and willing to stick around. I sometimes wonder, "Is it just me who feels this way?" Thanks to you and others here, there is some sanity out there when it comes to calling out and dealing with little boys thinking this is their playground for stupid, biased, and poorly thought out theories and childhood games concerning OUR favorite NBA Team...........

I love the optomism. 6th worst record won't guarantee a first pick in the draft. Having a couple of 15 game losing streaks will really concern me. I don't see this team making the playoffs but I don't really see a total collapse either. If they win between 30-35 I will be ok with it. Don't know what will happen. you play the games. Injuries will play a big part of it.
