In response to rameakap's comment:
Hahahhah.... so why didn't you try that trade first before LYING... and giving even worse false information in a smug, obnoxious and attacking way?
I tried the trade, it didn't work by $250,000... therefore $750,000... so the thing can easily be tweaked removing players like Telfair and Collins. The trade machine states clearly that Boston can go over the 74 million, which you just stated clearly that they could not do.... A LIE... the C's just can't pay more than 4 million in taxes this year...
So you were 100% WRONG in your initial obnoxious post to try to 'educate' others... and then when I am using correct knowledge of the cap and just off by 750k you wet your pants spinning and trying to look like you didn't just make a MONSTER gaffe.... your false info was FAR worse than mine
haha, oh Fierce, your games are so petty but we all know you are the kind of small insecure man who lives to 'be right' and 'put others in their place'... its sad how often it blows up in your face
Are you crazy?
What about free agent exceptions?
Salary cap exceptions can only be used by teams who are OVER the cap. That’s why they are called exceptions. If the Celtics renounced all their free agents and created that $20 million in cap space, they could not use their exceptions. That $20 million in cap space is what they would have to construct a roster.
Non Taxpayer Mid-level: This is the old mid-level exception, but it is only available to teams that are over the cap but under the luxury tax and below the $4 million “apron.” The tax threshold last season was about $70 million, making the apron roughly $74 million. Simpler: You can’t use this exception if it takes your team salary over $74 million.
The Celts can go over 70m but not over 74m. Get it?
By using the 5m MLE, that means the Celts can't go over the 74m threshold.
Seriously, you said Gortat, Dudly, and Telfair for Bradley, Lee, Melo, Collins, and Joseph. That's 13m for 10.5m. Right now the Celts are at 72m in total salaries. So 13m - 10.5m = 2.5m. Adding 2.5m to 72.5m will take the Celts over 74m.
Now you're saying remove Telfair or Dudley? Like I said, you should call yourself lameakap because right now you're just backtracking and making excuses.
