Gortat also turned down a contract extension.

Re: Boston Celtics to propose trade for center Marcin Gortat!

I WOULD NOT TRADE AVERY BRADLEY FOR GORTAT , AND WOULD NOT INCLUDE SULLINGER OR FAB MELO EITHER

I LIKE GORTAT A LOT, I THINK HE IS INTENSE IN THE SAME WAY KG IS , HE IS MUCH MUCH BETTER THAN PERKINS , AND LOOK HOW GREAT THE CELTICS WERE WITH PERKINS NEXT TO KG

    BUT BUT BUT.....

THE CELTICS MUST STAY THE COURSE IN THEIR YOUTH MOVEMENT

AVERY BRADLEY BECAME THE 2ND BEST PLAYER ON THE TEAM AFTER RONDO IN TERMS OF IMPACT BEFORE HE GOT HURT.......HIS DEFENSE IS TRULY GAME CHANGING , HE CANNOT BE INCLUDED IN A PACKAGE FOR GORTAT

BASS IS EXPENDABLE AND SO IS COURTNEY LEE AS WELL AS CHRIS WILCOX , TO BE HONEST , I'D RATHER SEE JASON TERRY GO THAN COURTNEY LEE , LEE NEEDS MORE MINUTES AND HIS BIG BODY AND D ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN TERRY'S JUMP SHOT (ESPECIALLY WITH THE ARRIVAL OF BARBOSA)

THROW IN a #1 AND #2 DRAFT PICK , BUT DO NOT GIVE UP BRADLEY, SULLINGER OR FAB MELO

The idea that Gortat might be traded is very different then the reality that it makes no sense for Phoenix to trade Gortat to Boston for a package built around Lee.

Lee is just so salaries match. The main attraction is Fab Melo and draft picks.

You don't add in Lee who has a 4 year contract. Nobody wants that contract.

The main attraction for Gortat is Melo and a 1st round pick?

    Even you can't believe that...

It can be when you have a disgruntled Center and may be causing problems in the dressing room..nobody says, that will be the final deal..either..

Cant keep them all...i think thats really why Danny took him in the first Round..Doubt seriously he was expecting much this year from him..but if he can bring us the center to make the run now.its a  no brainer..

No, AB wasn't. We turned the season around last year cause KG found back is youth at the center position (and PP came into better shape). In the post season AB was first ineffective and then injured and even with a injured Ray we always made it to the finals. Also AB was injured almost the entire time since he is here. Don't put all your hope and all the pressure on AB.
Without KG we are going nowhere!

NBA Trade Rumors: Marcin Gortat Can Be the Answer in Dallas

Gortat has had it with Alvin Gentry and the Suns.

    Christian Petersen/Getty Images

The Dallas Mavericks already have Chris Kaman at center, but a long-term upgrade would make sense in a lot of ways.

Even the most delusional Mavericks fans are not entertaining the idea of a return to the glory days that we're only a couple years removed from. The Mavs took the title in 2010, but Dirk Nowitzki is older (and injured) and the pieces that surrounded him are long gone.

Let's get this straight: Kaman is not a bad player, and he's playing very well. But Kaman's injury history, not to mention the fact that he is exiting (or perhaps way past) his prime make the acquisition of Marcin Gortat a near no-brainer, and a Polish newspaper claims the Mavs are interested (according to Hoops Hype).

And then there is the fact that the Mavericks already took a shot at Gortat in 2009 but struck out because then-Orlando Magic GM Otis Smith was smart enough to match the offer to retain a player whose value greatly exceeded his statistical production at the time.

In Gortat, Smith saw a potential trade chip who could be used to acquire some valuable talent at positions the Magic needed to fill.

That never happened. Gortat ended up in Phoenix and now he wants out.

Four teams have expressed interest in Gortat, among which the Mavericks are one (the other three are Orlando, Chicago and Boston).

Obtaining Gortat would give the Mavericks a center that could remain valuable and vital through the next four to five seasons, a span in which the Mavs could reasonably return to contention.

    Hi-res-156289442_crop_exact

Chris Kaman is the default option, but not the long-term answer.

    Ronald Martinez/Getty Images

Darren Collison and O.J. Mayo are a very good and young backcourt, and having a 28-year-old big man with the pick and roll capabilities ofGortat would make sense.

Gortat is also a very good defender, and that is an asset on any team. He's a capable shot-blocker and great rebounder, and for all the good nights Kaman has, he just doesn't have enough of them. Gortat is more consistent, better and a great option for the Mavs.

Thus, quasi-GM and owner Mark Cuban is pursuing a player he struck out on three years ago, hoping he has better success this time. ThePhoenix Suns are rebuilding and under the cap, so they don't need to ship out equal salary to obtain Gortat.

That keeps the Mavs options open, and a reasonable package that featured anyone other than Mayo or Collison (or Dirk Nowitzki, of course) would be in the Mavs' best interests.

While the Mavs may not have the best package to offer the Suns, expect them to make a strong run at a player they've been wanting for three seasons.

Gentry says Suns need more confidence, Gortat disagrees

By Seth Pollack on Dec 3, 7:54a 21

Here's some postgame video featuring Suns coach Alvin Gentry and center Marcin Gortat on Sunday after the team's loss to the New York Knicks. The two men weren't on the same page when it came to describing the slow starts the team seems to suffer...except they kind of were.

Well now, this is interesting (sort of). If you watch the Gentry video you will see the coach at the beginning rightly place blame on the nine first quarter turnovers. Each starter had two except for Shannon Brown who escaped with just one turnover -- but he only played four minutes.

At the end of the video Mr. Paul Coro (AZ Republic beat writer) asked Gentry WHY the team was starting slow. Gentry said they weren't focused and needed to come out with more confidence.

In the next video (below), you will see Mr. Coro ask Marcin Gortat if he agrees with Gentry's confidence prognosis.

"I wouldn't say, specifically, it was a game without confidence. I would say we didn't go out to have fun. We didn't go out to play together and we just didn't enjoy being out there," Gortat said.

He went on to talk about the lack of Suns swagger, which apparently is different than having confidence.

in my opinion this was a rumor-filled and inaccurate wishful thinking report that didn't deserve to be taken seriously by the OP. You have to learn to apply your BS detector a little better when you cite an article with very obscure sources.

This link confirms what I've been saying:

    http://www.celticsblog.com/2012/11/23/3682460/rumor-celtics-preparing-an-offer-for-marcin-gortat

Celts don't have the pieces to do a deal yet and need till January (Avery Bradley healthy and Jeff Green tradeable) to have all their pieces. Don't expect any big trades until after that. Ainge needs to see how healthy Bradley is and figure out who else is expendable.

In case you weren't aware it's much harder to attract marquee free agents in sunny Hollywood than frigid Boston. If you have a way of moving Boston to a sunny party hip hop location you'll have a better result. Until then it's time for you to accept LA has a distinct recruiting advantage. Oh, and you may want to keep in mind you don't need a dominant center to win rings in today's NBA.

Re: Boston Celtics to propose trade for center Marcin Gortat!

Marcin Gortat?  really!  yeah, now that he's got a HUGE CONTRACT, we'll trade away too much un-realized potential to get gortat at 7 or 8M a year with many years left on his deal.  why is it that ainge is completely unable to obtain and develop any talent at the 5??  teams ARE out there doing it.  darko was benched last year after putting up 8 and 6 with 2 blocks in 24 mins a night in favor of a DIFFERENT russian who was bigger and better!

and somehow we are so uninspiring for darko that he just leaves the league.  let alone the very idea of digging into overseas talent evaluation and GETTING ourselves one of these big men who are popping up all over the league from the eastern block.

yeah, let's trade some high draft picks along with something that we'll definitley need for the paid-in-full in both years and $ / year gortat.  dumb move.
