Boston Is The Only Team That Swept Their Opponent

Boston is the only team that swept their opponent in the east, and if Oklahoma city couldn't sweep tonight, then Boston will remain the only team in the entire NBA that swept their opponent in the first round.   Who would have believed that a month ago. Does that tell us something?

This is extremely difficult to accomplish at that level. Boston is insured more rest than any of their other eastern conference foes. This is important for a team like the C's.

Oh, and any who discounts this by denegrating the opponent is ignorant to the game. I don't care if its the team with the worst record in the league. It's almost impossible to beat another NBA team 4 straight. The reason I say this is some that come here make excuses for the other squads.

Every NBA analyst and commentators were expecting Miami or Chicago to sweep their opponent instead. They were all saying Boston/NewYork series will be the toughest in NBA. But Boston proved them wrong. Celtics needed the rest for a veteran team, and they got it. They really earned it.

Any NBA team can beat any team on a given night. aka the Cavs beat LA Boston and Miami. Beating anyteam 4 in a row is a task in and of its self.

They beat the same team 5 times.... this team that many thought that after winning a bunch of games coming into the playoffs lost 2 of its 3 best players.

You are absolutely right, it is almost impossible to beat the same time 4 times in a row.... so the Cs beat the Knicks 5 in a row..... and the Heat absolutely stomped the Cs in their meeting........

The Celts earned it but I don't think it means anything really. Remember the year we won the title Atlanta took us to seven games in the first round. What it does mean is that we get to rest our guys for a week while hopefully Miami keeps playing.

I know there are some Rondo-hating Miami-worshipping hero-basketball loving Celtics trolls on this board who are convinced Miami will destroy the Celtics and they are sorely mistaken. The knicks employed the same defensive strategy on Rondo that Miami has used in the past. Didn't work out so well for them.

What the Celtics rest means is that it would not only allow nagging injuries to heal, but it would also give Shaq a longer time to rest and be ready for Miami. Also, Celtics need a good practice time and review videos to fully get ready and plan better strategies to beat Miami.

It means everything you wierdos that disagree!  Psycho Jim Rome said he was not impressed...what a dick!  For any NBA team to do that in playoffs is a huge accomplishment!  We shot great and gutted it out!  We stand alone cause we are special and can turn it on when we want to!

Believe and you can do it!!!!!  F everyone else!!!!!

Nothing like luck in sports, man. The better team always win. The first two games, the Celtics execute very well towards the end of the game. The Knicks couldn't execute. Is that a luck or experience and superiority?

    This doesn't mean anything.

The three losses we avoided don't carry over into the next round

The three losses we avoided don't carry over into the next round, but the four wins, and the sweep, carry us over to the next round, since we have the momentum, the spirit, and the pride, as the team in this NBA playoffs without a lose.

Celtics deserve credit for the sweep of the Knicks. It is what it is and no one can take that away from them. However, this accomplishment won't mean a thing unless the team can carry the momentum into the succeeding round and consistently execute it's offensive and defensive plays.

we also swept the knicks 4-0 in the regular season. 8-0 over all is quite an accomplishment.

the knicks were not the worst team in the playoffs. indiana, atlanta, philadelphia and new orleans were all playing worse.

you make it sound like we only played miami once. we beat them 3 times. in the first 2, the scoreline flattered the heat: we were by far the superior team. in the 3rd, we were decimated by injuries and we still pulled out the win.

in the final meeting, we were playing our worst basketball of the season, and out starters kept it close until their bench blew away ours. don't count on that happening again.

The sweep is nice and theoretically gives us rest & more practice time... but in reality prob dont mean much at all..  like maybe we're rested but the layoff losses our sharpness...etc

So many NFL teams go thru this too in the payoffs... they get a bye week... then lose to a lower seeded team.

Remember, our starters had a week off before the Knick series began and we just barely squeaked out wins in our 2 home games.

We need to take game #1 in Miami, thats when we can start wondering how the sweep may have benefitted us

Beating a team with all the hype the Knicks had going in definitely means something.  Kirk I usually agree with you but to say the series should have been two and two is just not accurate.  We played the Knicks close all four times during the season and won every game.  Maybe they would have won one game and based on the season's history that was all they would have got.

We will see what happens next round that is the proof, the Celtics win and the dream moves on.

It came down to the Knicks had Carmelo and the Celts had all four of their All-Stars. It won't be a picnic playing the Celtics in the next round.

I love the fact that they put out so much energy and executed so well at the end of those first two games. Plus now Doc has a few more days to get the bench more cohesive. We'll see how effective they can be. So far they are largely MIA. They'll need to win one of two in Miami to start the series!
