    Brad wants defenders

Brad Stevens stated that defending is a big need.  This could sway who is selected in the draft or who they try to sign.  Gordon? Name others.

Well, Emblid is the anchor of a defense for somebody.  Will Cauley-Stein be going out?

If Brad said that, he is soft in the head.

We were number 13 in points allowed this year - not too bad - and often defense if a matter of effort and intensity.

Meantime we were one of the THE WORST offensive teams in the league. We couldn't score. We are a study in offensive futility.

So, with that in mind, hopefully Brad can have his head examined, hopefully Ainge knows better, and we can now talk about offensive players we can draft or trade for.

    Brad wants defenders?

I guess Rondo is gone then.

Brad is right.Better ball stealers leads to easier offense.

I have zero faith that Embiid will make it. He's a stiff.

WCS is staying put. That said, he's an offensive liability.

Vonleh and Gordon are good on D. KJ McDaniels is a great defender at the #3. He should be around at 17.

If Brad wants defenders, then Olynyk and Sully are trade bait.

Being ranked 13th in points allowed is a meaningless statistic, especially on a lousy team.

Ever think our defensive ranking had something to do with teams building sizable leads and slowing the game down?? .. or opponents 2nd team getting more playing time than usual against the lowly celtics?

It sure as heck doesnt mean Brad is soft in the head because he didnt take into account the C's 13th place  ranking..

"It sure as heck doesnt mean Brad is soft in the head because he didnt take into account the C's 13th place ranking.."

Well we don't know what he actually said anyhow.

"Being ranked 13th in points allowed is a meaningless statistic, especially on a lousy team."

Umm, how many points we allowed and how many we scored are not meaningless stats. They relate directly to wins and losses which is a pretty meaningful stat.

But the point is we were a lukewarm defensive team, but we were a terrible offensive team, we scored fewer points than almost any team in the league but a couple.

Clearly our offense needs just as much help if not more than our defense.

We all know how you feel about Rondo, you really want to surround Rondo with defensive specialists?

    As for this:

"Brad is right.Better ball stealers leads to easier offense."

Steals are helpful to offensive, but not as much as better offensive rebounding. For example, Al Jefferson could help our team offensively more than a defensive guard.

But you can still draft offensive guys who are athletic and capable of good D.

Look at Chris Paul, he gets plenty of steals but is a very good offensive player. That's the kind of player we need, not a Bruce Bowen type defensive specialist. Those we can add later.

This is completely inline with how I envision the Celtics rebuild.

Ainge will probably keep our draft pick and the most likely scenario is to draft Aaron Gordon. Ainge will re-sign Bradley and will go after a rim protector.

If nothing else, I think we can have this team next year:

    Rondo, Pressey

    Bradley, Stauskas

    Green, Gordon, Wallace

    Sullinger, Olynyk

    Asik

This could be a very good defensive team. You could easily play defensive lineups with Rondo, Bradley, Green, Gordon and Asik

Hopefully we have Vitor and Kells at center with Sully and Hump at power forward. I...don't. ...like...Asik.

P.J. Tucker would be an ideal upgrade at the 3 backing up Green and Bradley.

IF that is true one possible play out could be:

Green and a furture first for Asik in a trade

    Celtics draft Gordon and McDaniels.
