    In response to DaCeltics' comment:

Good free agents want to play with Rondo. He's the starting All-Star point guard! I'd rather have both. Rondo can fetch us a championship quality big man though.

okay, so over the hill vets want to play with rondo becuase they get all the looks and the rest of the team drys up and blows away on offense, while also trying to cover for rondo's inability (read: LACK OF DESIRE) to participate on the offensive end in any consistent role?

please.  get him rehabbed, showcase him and blow him out of town.  a modern day rory sparrow equivalent-in-skills could run a team better than rondo does.  he accumulates massive amounts of assists through stalinistic over-control over an offense and the whole team suffers.  i hope someone is a taker for him this summer before he even comes back in the fall, just so i never have to see him in green again.

"No one player is above the team... not Larry, MJ or Magic.."

    That's just dumb, man!

Without Larry, MJ, or Magic, those championships the Celtics, Lakers, and Bulls won back in the 80s and 90s would not have existed if not for Larry, MJ, or Magic.

Maybe a player like Rondo can't be above the team, but saying that Larry, MJ, or Magic can't be above the team is just plain dumb!

Its time everybody started asking how much better the C's may have been these last few years had Rondo not been our PG. Seems like Ray had some truly legit reasons for no wanting to deal with Rondo. I'd bet even JG and C-Lee could expound on similar feelings if they weren't true TEAM guys. It makes one wonder what could have been!

Yeah, but Rondo was the Celts' best player in the playoffs last season.

Rondo always plays well in the playoffs.

RONDO plays well a lot of the time! He gets triple-doubles like nobody else! BUT RONDO has only helped the C's win ONE TITLE and that was the year he was the least notable guy on the C's starting five. Ever since he has become THE GUY, NOTHING EXCEPT GREAT PERSONAL STATS AND "ALMOSTS" SINCE. Ever since he went down, we are trending up again. Hmmmmm?

My personal fave was when he shot 25% from the charity stripe in 2010 Finals against the Lakers... and we lost.

Totally AWESOME.  Gave me explosive diarrhea.

Of course we wouldn't have been in the finals without him.

My vote is  Rondo. Love Bradley though.

    The Answer is BOTH, dummies!

They are a formidable back-court because they compliment each other.

Rondo: Excellent passer, excellent ball handler, good mid-range shooter, excellent driver, excellent steal maker, excellent play maker

Bradley: Excellent ball pressurer, excellent 1:1 defender, excellent shot blocking (for a 2), excellent speed/quickness/agility, excellent cutter, excellent corner 3 shooter, excellent catch and shoot. - Those last two will continue to develop

That certainly is presumptuous and completely contradicts what we were seeing when RR went down. We were 20-23, mired in a 0-6 losing streak and trending downward. At the time, NOBODY saw us even making the play-offs without a blockbuster type of trade. To think that just because RR had a great play-off run last year means that your team will survive the funk that it was in a year later to go all the way to the ECFs makes no sense at all. Also, as great as he played in those play-offs, he wasn't good enough BY HIMSELF, just as he ALWAYS seems to want it. Gimme AB and any average PG and we will beat your team with RR all day. Can you imagine how bad AB would make RR look in that scanario? Move on, man. Its time. And we have a better chance at making it to the ECF with the TEAM we have right now more than we did back before the last week of January.

My problem with this line of reasoning is it completly ignores the fact that the Celtics turned on the jets last year after the all star break as well. You act like we spent years as a lottery team and somehow emrged as contenders when Rondo went down. This is what the Celtics do.

Secondly Green had major heart surgery and problems with his wind that doctors said would start to go away in... you guessed it Janaury.

Bradley who hadn't played in some time started getting his game back, and the deeper bench stepped up.

Also, the 6 game losing streak was preceded by a 6 game winning streak. The Cetics numbers wise were plaing much better since in 2013 than they were in 2012 prior to Rondo going down.

That is why we are doing better now. Rondo isn't getting traded and will be our starting PG next year. So, You are going to have to learn to live with him.

And then fools like you DENY what your own eyes are seeing. Oh wait, here, have your crack pipe back. Rondo won't even be as "GOOD"? as he was before he got hurt. How do you get an unmotivated head case to rehab an ACL enough to bring him back to who he wasn't? Stop "cup sniffing" and smell the roses. Your Celtics are better off without an ACL recovery project of a PG. HE WILL NEVER BE AS ATHLETIC AGAIN. He will lose confidence, if not agility in his own ability to cut, move, jump off that leg. Thats his whole game! And you wann live with that? No thanks.......ship 'em! If you can.....

Too bad we don't know one another, else I would love to bet you on this. If he does make it back, it will only be because nobody wants an ultra athletic PG who blew out his ACL and won't likely ever be the same athlete, or to let him show enough to bring some value back for a trade. Otherwise, I really don't think he's coming back and will likely be traded during the off season to a team who is willing to take a chance vs. sticking with their guy. Either way, won't be within your sniffing range soon enough! Enjoy, while you can! Oh wait, he's out.....nevermind!

Rondo is likely back running the show for the C's if his knee heals... that is as long as Doc Rivers is unfortunately still our coach.

maybe Doc will decide to go watch his kids play basketball and leave nba coaching to the pros

Not sure on this but doesn't RR contract expire the year after next?  So that means he will need to have a big year next year in order to get the huge contract all players want.  Does that mean he will be all about stats in order to achieve the amount of dollars he wants?  It wouldn't be the first time for this to happen.   Just a thought,  hope it doesn't come to pass.

His contract expires after 2014-15 season as I understand it.

Rondo likely will want a max contract. Hilarious.

Whats  his fair market value in Beantown when this team plays better without him?

    No riddle here.

    In response to rameakap's comment:

I'm still all about trading Rondo this offseason if you can get 3 things in return:

    1. A lotto pick (preferably in the top 11) or another borderline all star under 30

    2. Since the $ has to work it can't involve big contracts past 2015

    3. A pure PG, doesn't have to be a 35 min starting PG, just a 20-24 min great ballhandler who can share time with Avery (and I guess Williams) at the position

My current desired deals involve two teams with cap space that could be interested in Dwight and Josh Smith, the Mavs and Hawks

    A. To Dallas (maybe with Crawford) for Marion, Darren Collison their lotto pick and (maybe) Vince Carter

    B. To Atlanta (with Bass and either our draft pick or Crawford) for Al Horford and Lou Williams

You are correct that a lot will have to do with what DH and Smith decide.  I STILL say we should not overlook the possibility that they will play together next year.

We could trade Rondo for a big only, then try to pry Bledsoe away from the Clips....or we could take our chances on Michael Carter-Williams, and hope he falls into our lap in the draft.

    Re: Bradley or Rondo?

Just to tack on a similiar topic to this thread, if I am not mistaken Bradley's contract is up after next season. If he continues improving say 13-14 pts a game and same great D what do you think his next paycheck will be like? I have to imagine it will be more then Lee's so do you think around 7 a year sounds about right?

Also, I think the way the C's have positioned themselves with young players your not going to see Rondo traded. Rondo, Bradely, Lee, Crawford and Williams is a backcourt that has me very exited for years to come - especially if the last two keep there heads on straight and one of the SG's can develope to be an above average three point shooter.
