When Varejao sets the pick, Bradley leaves a ton of space between himself and Irving. At this point, one of two things should have happened. 1: Assuming Bass called out the pick, Bradley should have stepped up and closed that gap if he was going to fight over the top of it. Bass is there for the hedge to slow Irving down and get Bradley that second he needs to get back into the play.
2: Drop down and go under the pick. It leaves you more vulnerable to an Irving jumper, but it's a better option than the lay up. Plus, Bass is there to challenge a quick pull up.

There is no such thing as a simple pick and roll. It all depends on how good the pick is. He played it pretty well. Great offensive play. It is what it is. It was a tough shot.

Oh please don't you know its Ray and Bradley's fault they lost. You have to overlook Paul's 7 turn overs, and Basse's lack of defensive and rebounding.

Gotta give some props to Irvin. The kid played an inexperienced Bradley like a fiddle. The key is that we should not have been in that position. no one play costs us the game, not even this last play. The cumulative effect of not scoring and not getting rebounds is what makes us look terrible in this loss.
C's coming back and will punish Cleveland next game. Pierce will have a huge game and so will KG. Ray will have a mediocre game and defer to Paul.
Come on, Celtics - kick their butts!
