Re: Bradley vs. Bayless

A lot of things still can happen. It starts with where they finish with the ping pong balls And whether Danny gets any trade offers. From there who he drafts.

Then it depends if he is eying any potential free agents in 2015 or 2016. I'd rather pass on both AB and Bayless and let them walk now if they can land an all star FA down the road by having that open salary space. Then find cheap fillers after that.

Guys like Bayless are a dime a dozen.

Bayless over Pressey and for the same money over the always injuured Bradley.

It would be bad to overpay for AB, but Bayless over Pressey or AB for the same money sound crazy.

Bayless is a shoot happy undersized SG who plays lousy D and shoot a hair ver .400.AB is an undesized as well but is younger, seems to be a better shooter and can be a game changer on D.

For a contender it would depend on the overall team structure but even then I would root for AB. For a team like the Cs it is not even close.

    Re: Bradley vs. Bayless

I believe our 1st need is a Center so if we get Embiid, for our 2nd pick, if available, one of these Guards, A. Wiggens, Shabazz  Napier, Gary Harris etc. and unload both Bayless and Pressey. I would keep Rondo & A. Bradley, not a prolific scorer but for his defense. We are OK, if we get Embiid, with Oly, Sully, Johnson(who can play G too) and keep Hump, if possible. Also, unload, if possible, Wallace, Bass & Green too(keeping him only  if we don't get some value for him). But if we could get K. Love, give up Hump and any and all of the aforementioned 3 Forwards, and maybe even a couple of our 10 future draft picks, we would contend next year.

If we don't get Embiid, try to get Omer Asik or Gortat, and if, not, play Faverani at C and put Kaminsky on our radar for next year.

Shooters got to be able to shoot.  AB for way less than seven or eight million, mainly due to passing ability, and injury disability

    Re: Bradley vs. Bayless

Major glaring point not mentioned is that Bayless should cost a lot less than Bradley.  For a team that is rebuilding and likely not going to be great any time soon and if the players in questions are not the answers, the amount of money needed should be a huge factor.

Pressey and Bayless to be our backup 1 and 2.

Sign Hayward to be our 2.

    Let someone else overpay Bradley.

Bradley is more expensive but he'll still be playing at a high level 7-8 years from now.

Once the Celts become a playoff team, having Bradley as the 6th man and best on ball defender will be worth every dollar.
Or we can get a much better player with the money a few years from now.  His on the ball defense effectiveness has already diminished.  It is not what it used to be if no one has noticed, so what will become of him 7-8 years from now?  Who knows, but why pay so much for it now when there are still so many questions about him including injuries?

Save the money, it should not be that hard to replace him if it is going to cost 7-8 millions a year.  He is not worth that much now and how can you be sure he is worth that much 7-8 years from now.  It has to be a lot less than that otherwise it is not worth the risk IMO.

    Think long term.

Bayless will be worthless 7-8 years from now.

But AB can be a Derek Fisher or Lindsey Hunter type player for the Celts when the Celts are contenders years from now.
Being careful with salary is thinking long term.  Concentrate on building the core players first, everything else could be a drag and have adverse effect on the rebuilding process.  If he wants to stay for 4-5 millions, maybe that is ok, but he is not worth overpaying at this stage.

    Re: Bradley vs. Bayless

The probability is that DA and Brad are going to try Sully and Oly playing together as PF and C in 2014-15.  Unless the C's get Embid,  they are likely to try that pairing for 30 plus minutes.  Try and sign Gordon Heyward to play 2 and to back up Green.  No AB and no Bayless unless they offer real contract bargains.
