Thread title aside, the facts are these:
they are not nearly as good as advertised;
the win-now mentality will come back to bite them;
they have no bench;
D'Antoni is a disaster;
they have a poor record against good teams;
some subjective opinions:
kobe and DH don't like each other, and one will have to go;
they value their players more than the rest of the league;
they will lose Earl Clark to FA at year's end;
Even if Howard leaves, they are over the cap..........this was not very well planned. I think Kupchak is a great GM, but I doubt even he can pull a rabbit out of this hat!!

If the Lakers are going to end up chasing Utah then the road just got more difficult....the Jazz are currently up by four games in the loss column..!

I have already posted such. I dont' think they can...........if we are under the cap, and offer him "Terry money", I dont' think they could match that....he is UFA, not RFA.....but another team might offer more. Just as long as he leaves LA!!!!!!!

He looks like a nice player to me but, then again, so did Kevin Gamble the first year he started getting playing time with the Celts..!

Not shopping Howard was a fatal mistake. They can't replace his max deal if he doesn't re-sign. If you don't have an extension by now it's a real gamble. They also should have shopped Gasol. if this team doesn't make the playoffs they are a year older and can't make any additions to the roster and they can't even getsomeone through the draft. They don't have a pick. They don't have the mid level because that is how they got Artest/Metta Old Cheese.
Kupcheck may have rolled the dice and crapped out here.
Definitely agree with you about Howard. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't resign with the Lakers. The Lakers are going to have a difficult time next season making improvements to their team.
