Celtics Agree To Sign Vitor Faverani

The Celtics have reached an agreement in principle on a three-year deal with Brazilian big manVitor Faverani, reports Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports (via Twitter). Talks between the two sides had been reported last week by TuBasket.com, though there were some questions about whether the C's would be able to negotiate a buyout.

Faverani, 25, has spent the last several seasons overseas, including the 2012/13 season with Valencia. In 23 Spanish League contests, Favenari averaged 9.3 PPG and 4.6 RPG while shooting 59.4%.

If the Celtics agreed to sign Faverani to a three-year deal, the team won't be able to use the minimum salary exception, even if not all three years are fully guaranteed. So it appears likely that the team will use a portion of its mid-level exception to complete the signing, though contract terms aren't yet known.

Faverani, Iverson, Melo, Randolph, Sullinger, Bass, Wallace, etc...

Maybe we won't be such a wussy team like we were last year.

At least there will be no lack of a big man on this years roster.

I believe you mean: el hombre de hierro for Iron man or man made of iron. I believe that "Indestructible" in Spanish is "Indestructible" in English. He is from Brazil where the people speak Portugese. I am not sure if "indestructible" is even a word in Portugese.

I am concerned that Danny Ainge may be putting together too good of a team.

I know ... but it's easier to chant, Ironman .... Ironman than Indestructible man ... Indestructible man ... Try it!

Good signing, this guy has mass, which we sorely need and has a low post game and can play facing the basket, a spot shooter like most Euro and foreign players do. There's a reason the Spurs wanted him also...

Danny Ainge isn't tanking, they tanked in 06-07' because they were at rock bottom and had to, now they're a modern, young, exciting team with cap space and with players who are valuable as chips.

Whoever insisted they were tanking is either a headline grabber, a troll or a genuine fan who posts with emotion instead of cool logic.

This team doesn't have one superstar, but it will be one the deepest, most talented teams in the NBA from top to bottom and will be skillfully coached as well.

Ainge will never get enough credit in Boston with Belichick around, but with maybe the best eye for talent in all of basketball, the C's will never be down for long again.

He was one of my favorite players, he's quickly becoming one of my favorite all time Celtic's GMs... and that's a tough assignment when Red is the benchmark.
