One thing's for sure, every Celtic fan will be happy if Lebron James ends up playing for the Celtics.

    I'm not a Lebron fan.

But I disagree that flopping makes you a disgrace to the game.

It's the job of the refs to detect flopping.
Disagree - faking a foul is cheating - a disgrace to the game!

Did you see Duncan last night raise his hand when he was called for a foul - saying yea it was me! Those are actions of a player who respects the game and plays by the rules!

Flopping is cheating - AND - players who do it disrespect the game!

    My opinion!

The NBA will penalize floppers this season, fining players for repeated violations of an act a league official said has "no place in our game."

    Bingo!

If the league takes action then flopping will be a thing of the past.

In the past, there was rampant flopping because the league allowed the players to get away with it.
Agree - the act of flopping is a disgrace to the game!

LeBron James’ Flopping is a Disgrace to the NBA: Fan's Take
    By Edwin Torres
    Apr 29, 2012 11:05 PM

As a longtime fan of the New York Knicks, I take their playoff losses hard. The 100-67 thrashing in Miami was no exception. But what really irked me about this game was the blatant flopping by Miami Heat forward LeBron James.

I understand that players look for every possible advantage in NBA playoff games. But flopping is categorically unsportsmanlike. Look at how flopping has hurt international football. Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best footballers in the world today. But he is also one of the best divers. Diving is such a problem in football that they penalize players for doing it. Intentionally flopping to deceive a referee is a misconduct. Is this where professional basketball is heading?

Look at this ridiculous flop by James in the first quarter of Game 1: video. James deflected a pass and gained possession in the corner. He was met by Knicks guard J.R. Smith. After very light contact, James ended up six feet out of bounds. Preposterous.

Minutes later, James flopped again. This time, he reacted twice after a hard screen by Knicks center Tyson Chandler. If this was international football, James would have been shown the red card.

Yes, James gained an advantage for the Heat in both of these plays. But the ends do not justify the means. James is too good to rely on such unsporting methods. I don't remember Michael Jordan ever flopping, unless you count his attempt at professional baseball.

I know the Knicks were blown out in Game 1. They have a lot more to worry about than a couple of flops by James. But it's just sickening to me to watch a future NBA Hall of Famer resort to such tactics. I hated Jordan for standing in the way of the Knicks year after year. But I respected him for the player he was. His flu game will live on forever. That was an example of Jordan's greatness. What will James' legacy be? Does he want to be known as a chronic flopper? Until the NBA does something about flopping, James will keep doing it. And it may even help him win an NBA title. But he won't win the respect of his peers and fans.

I'm not surprised because that's a Knicks fan talking.

Don't forget our Paul Pierce is one of the best floppers in the NBA.

The content of the article is spot on! Lebron's legacy is currently CRAP!! King of the floppers!

He has to be the least liked STAR player in any US sport EVER!!

They do this in Hockey and Montreal will have to have a new set of acting classes all summer.

Come on, there is no perfect game.

    There is no perfect situation.

Like I said, there is less flopping now because the league is taking action.

MJ in the 1998 Finals CLEARLY pushed Bryon Russell in that historic game winning shot.

But the refs didn't call an offensive foul.

    It is what it is.

If Lebron is taking performance enhancing drugs, that's a disgrace!

Flopping is a new invention.  I don't remember Michael Jordan flopping or Larry Bird or Magic Johnson.  Derek Fisher was probably the best flopper.  I don't recall who started this.

And yes, flopping is a disgrace to the game.  Just like the bad boys thuggery.

    Correct

And I would not celebrate if LeBron joined the Celtics. I'd feel like I did when Dominique came in 1994.

Wade is more of a disgrace than MEBron.

Wade injured kobe, Rondo, Bradley and George..................

and he NEVER fouls, and ALWAYS gets hit when he misses.

That being said, I wouldn't want LeBron on the Celtics now - 5 years ago, maybe, but his life is a circus, and his ego is out of control......

"You show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser." - Red Auerbach

If no Bynum injury, no Gasol trade - last word!!

If you don't like flopping you shouldn't support the spurs either. Lead by Manu they are right on "Top of the Flops". It is ok to dislike Lebron, but double Standards aren't.

Any other players in the NBA have a term for flopping named after them?

Great post and I agree with you 100%.  Wade is a punk and I really dislike LeBron and wouldn't want either one of them playing for the Celtics.
