You are claiming that if the C's use the TPE for Asik before 7/14/14' they will be over the cap .... Hahahaha .... So you think they will resign Humphries and keep Wallace .... LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What are you talking about?

The Celts can acquire Asik now for just a 1st round pick because we have a TPE of 10.3m.

Asik's cap hit is 8.4m. The Celts can acquire him now, not in 2014.

But I don't think Ainge will do that because the owners are cheap and they don't want to pay repeater tax.
Exactly ... when they can get him after the season closes and be under the cap and tax line!

    Wow!

    http://www.celticslife.com/2013/07/celtics-acquire-very-valuable-103.html

The Celtics acquired a $10.3 million traded player exception as part of the Nets swap. That's an insanely valuable asset for a team that could put itself in position to vault back to contender status -- and remain there -- if it makes the right steps moving forward.

The trade exception will expire on July 12, 2014, meaning it has to be used soon after the moratorium lifts next summer. But the sign-and-trade options it affords could bring in a star-caliber player. If another team desires to shed salary and head into its own rebuild mode by moving on from a star player, Boston can absorb that talent.

Haha ... How'd you miss that Mr Crapologist?

But of course .... that's because you think the only way to rebuild is thru the draft ... Danny can easily acquire a player like Asik now if he wants ... 5-10 yrs of mediocracy?  Wrong again Fungus! Try a complete rebuild within two years ....
Now doesn't mean this month ... now he has the luxury of waiting for Asik till the trade deadline or later as long as he uses it before 7/14/14. Hopefully he gets Asik for Humphries and can save that TPE for another teams expiring Star contract by June/14' as we could find ourselves in a situation like Houston, able to steal a superstar if we have the capabilities.

9:09pm you said Danny can get Asik now if he wants.

12:30am you're saying get Asik after the season.

What a difference 3 hours make!

    HAHAHA

at 9pm it became apparent that he has two options to reel him in idiot!

Once again a nice thread is ruined by a silly argument.

I have begun to think alcohol is involved.

Now means until July 14, 2014???

Isn't it more appropriate to say acquire a player like Asik "later" if he wants?

    Seriously, English 101, Mployee.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

no ... now meaning under the current circumstances. Now we have three options ...1)Houston decides to flip Asik for Humphries over the summer and if not then 2) before 7/14' when Houston will be anxious to flip him if he's still on their roster. You seem to think Houston can do better than Hump ... Maybe they can but if they can't flip Asik for a stretch 4 or having them both on the floor at the same time isn't working out then Danny has another chance 3) at the trade deadline.

So now is this summer till next summer ...

Done with you now ... I've responded to all four threads and that's it cuz it's a waste of time arguing with a baffoon.

Can the C's pair this TPE with another player's contract (say, Bass' ~6-7 mil) and do a S&T in June, 2014 to acquire a ~16-17 mil contract player (e.g. Marc Gasol)?

You can't sign and trade a player in June and you can't combine it with Bass' salary.

Trade exceptions can't be combined with anything -- even other trade exceptions.

    Thanks, Fierce!

Well, then there aren't many very good players for 10.3 mil. I wonder what they are going to do with this TPE.

Also say thanks for the info...I have to admit to DA bashing, but I think next year's off season coiuld be fun, fun, fun!

I have to admit to a lack of confidence in DA and Ownership as well. Obviously we don't know the whole story and is the reason that we play on this forum instead in the front office! Doesn't mean that I don't miss KG and PP but that is another story that we don't have all the info on.

    Ditto..next year will be interesting.

$17 million dollars for Marc Gasol?

Why don't they just take $17 million dollars out in the parking lot and burn it?

I'm willing to start a new cup circle w/ Danny's being the one that is cherished(hopefully he has a rigorous exercise regimen). I've never been against sniffing per say, it just has to be earned. Whose coming w/ me?
