Celtics may be cockblocked by Lakers for D-League 7 Footer

    http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakersnow/la-sp-ln-d-fenders-acquire-center-jerome-jordan-20130225,0,2154281.story

    > The D-Fenders made a trade Monday to acquire center Jerome Jordan, sending Ronald Dupree and Orien Greene to the Reno Bighorns.

    > Operating as the D-League affiliate for the Lakers, the D-Fenders are run by General Manager Glenn Carraro, also the assistant general manager of the Lakers.

    > The Lakers have denied having a contract in place with Jordan, but the move by the D-Fenders suggests the team might have at least a cursory interest in the 26-year-old Jamaican center.

    > With 14 players on the roster, the Lakers have one spot available for a free agent.

Won't be the 1st time. The Lakers blocked the C's attempt to acquire David West a few years ago and West ended up in Indy as a result.

While the Lakers may have legitimate interest in another center with Gasol out, let's not forget that their primary interest is to bypass the C's when it comes to Championships and that includes doing anything they can to STOP the C's from gaining on them ... especially if a deal like this let's them have their cake and eat it too.

Why didn't we act before? We need one very badly.

My guess is that Danny either knows or is hoping that someone better will become available through waivers.

But, he could have signed JJ while waiting on DJ White and would still be able to send Melo back to Maine if someone else does become available on the waiver wire.

I don't get it but the Lakers now have the inside track on signing JJ and with Ohlbrecht signing with Houston the quality 7 footers are disappearing from D-League fast and we've yet to act if only to lock one up for 10 days. I can understand Ohlbrecht turning down the C's since he got a contract with Houston for the entire year. If Danny doesn't show some interest (10 day contract offer) to JJ before LA does then we could get blocked out yet again.

It does not matter because they are not impact players!  No way this helps us get by the Heat!

Any 7 footer helps you get past the Heat .... Did you see what Cousins did to the Heat the other night? Like 16 rebounds and double OT before LeBron took it home. If we had a presence like that the Heat would be in serious trouble.

Agree with you.  That is why the Pacers have an advantage when they play Miami.  Cousins had a great game against Miami the other night and I really was hoping that they would win the game.

this is a very prudent question.  danny has been asleep at the wheel for years straight on getting us viable non-washed up bigs for this team.  what little he has done, doc has managed to screw up big time.
