    Celtics Show NO Respect!

If what is being rumored around is true, its an absolute shame.

Paul Pierce in the last couple of years going to CLEVLAND or the BUCKS to rot!?

The captain gave this team everything he had for his entire career, brought them a championship that he was the MVP in. Stuck it out with them when it was going hard and unlike Lebron, did not leave when he was in the prime of his career.

If the Celtics management and ownership are actually thinking of doing this trade, to send him to lottery teams, teams that have no chance, its disrespectful to a Celtics LEGEND.

Its not like the guy is going out there putting up 10 points, hes still very productive at this age, leading the team in scoring.

Celtics need to show some respect!

Do you think Ainge would trade him for nothing on purpose if there was a better deal out there? Give it time...more offers will appear. They may decide to keep him.

All im saying is dont send him to a NON CONTENDER, show him the respect he deserves and send him to a team that has a chance to compete and are not lottery bound.

Great teams are not charitable foundations.  They are in business to put the most competitive team on the field of play.

The San Francisco 49ers shipped perhaps the greatest QB out to the Chiefs in his final year. Steve Young was traded too.

As stated above, Pierce was paid handsomely for his contribution.  It would be WRONG and unwise to grossly overpay him AND delay the rebuilding.   He is respected and will be recognized by Celtics organization just like all other Celtic greats...  but in the end,  its all about what is in the best interest of the TEAM, not Pierce, that should be first priority.

The problem is that all contenders are over the salary cap which means the Cs have to absorb a bunch of scrappy players with big contracts to make the deal work. So then at that point...how does that benefit the Cs?

Playing in Cleveland wouldn't be terrible.

Irving is up and coming, Varejao can bang, they have a slew of draft picks including #1. Pierce could be the leader of that team and mentor Irving on some of the finer points of being a scorer in the NBA. Not saying they would be contending for titles, but he'd make the best of it making 15.3 million. He'd probably get dealt to a contender at the deadline anyways if they weren't any going to make the playoffs.

What is more valuable to the Cs this season? Pierce in the last year of his deal getting 17/5/4 or getting picks/young assets/trade exception for him while allowing Green to play the 30+ mins a night he deserves?

I wish it didn't have to be like this, but it's a business. His number will be retired in the rafters in a year or two. Thanks for a memorable career Paul. You're one of the all-time Celtic greats.

Hey Rodney Dangerfield, the Cavs will be better than us next year. Pierce could be the 3rd or 4th option and help them get in the play offs. Like someone else said, he has been paid well for his time in Boston. When we were bad he wanted to be traded, now we're bad again, Danny is giving him what he wanted!!

Pay attention to the most recent updates:

    A. They are going to help/listen to Pierce when it comes to where he wants to go

    B. The won't take anything less than a 1st rd pick

Swap Pierce (TPE) for Josh Smith (S&T) and the C's get better, along with some other tweaks. Send PP to the Cavs to play with Irving, Varejao, Thompson, Waiters and the #1 pick... and the Cavs are fun playoff contenders.

    1. Cleveland has the potential to be a good Team next year. A contender? DOn't thinks so, that will take some more years.

    2. Interesting that shipping out Pierce is "Business", but Ray leaving as a Free Agent makes him a "traitor". Double Standards?

    Not at all.

The C's were a healthy Bradley and Jeff Green from beating the Heat and maybe winning a title in 2012. Ray abandoned that ship when the plan was to boost that roster up for 1-2 more runs.

Now the team is rebuilding and if you get a good enough offer for Pierce you take it.

If the team wants to contend with Josh Smith over PP it is a bit of a slap in the face, but ainge almost made that swap in Feb and clearly feels the 8-9 year age difference is a no brainer at this point.

It would have hurt people to see McHale dumped in 1989 for Detlef Schrempf or Sam Perkins, but in the end those guys had careers that lasted another 7-8 years longer than his. Even if you're not contending you get younger and see what happens. in 1-2 years Smith will have WAY more value than Pierce does now, if the team moves on from the Green, Rondo, Bass and Lee age group and builds around Avery, Sully, Melo and the 2-4 recent draft picks.

There were still aspirations of a title run when Ray bolted for the Celtics biggest title obstical, Miami.

When the player or coach takes control of their destiny like Ray or Doc, they are traitors and loyalty should matter.  But when management ships them out or fires a winning coach to benefit management's desires, then it's just business, huh?  Of course that's a double standard.   Pierce can be shipped to Cciti zen?  Ray could be anywhere. Now if he had signed with Danny.

clearly, Ray made the right decision for him and his family vs "shipped somewhere because its a business and the Celtics deserve to get something for him no matter how loyal or how productive he was ". (Pierce)

breaks my heart to see Paul not treated the way Hondo, Bird, Russell, Sam, McHale, Cousy, JoJo, Heinsoln, and other greats were treated.  Loyalty gets you nothing with Danny?  Trade him to a contender!

It is the trade exemption that is worth 15 million dollars. You can do a sign and trade and not have to worry about salaries. That mens you are under the cap.

I agree with something stated above

When a player does decides to leave, its frowned upon, but when a organization does it "ITS JUST BUSINESS"

You all are jokes with no sense of what loyalty is. Talking about Clevland making noise, what rock are you living under, get real.

Pierce and GArnett will be with the Celtics this season until at least mid-season.  Trades will be more beneficial at that time.

Cavs will be better than us next year, what a prediction. Absolute joke of a prediction.

Pierce a 4th option with the CAVS, not on his worst day. If you think he will allow that, you obviously forgot about the ego Pierce has, he didnt want to back up a potential star in Jeff Green to be a 4th option for a team going absolutely nowhere and would be lucky to make the 8th seed.

Dirk has been payed better than Pierce up in Dallas, you dont see Cuban sending him off when they suck.

And yes your spot on with Danny giving him what heh wants, sending him to the CAVS a contender for the championship, keep telling yourself that.

Spot on with all your points.

And about your"Rodney Dangerfield" Next time you go being all sarcastic, at least make some points that actually make sense.
