Waiting until he already is a certifiable star to project his success is no fun.  that is what a stiff like Bill Simmons would do.  The board here is better than that.

Heinson just once again criticized "the game plan on the boards". He said the last three games the Celtics have given up well 25-plus second chance points. In other words, small ball is killing the team, like it did in the third quarter, when Rivers put out a midget team that let the Piston back in it. Andybody watching NESN just heard it.

Come on, the Celts just don't have the bigs to rebound. KG and Sully, the Celts' 2 best rebounders, are not playing.

Ever hear the term "box out"?

I watched the game. The Celts are boxing out.

Numerous times Celtic players had inside position but couldn't get the rebound because the Piston bigs were just going over the top of the smaller guy or the smaller Celtic would get pushed out of the way by the bigger Piston.

Check the replay. You'll see Monroe shoving Bass to the ground even when Bass had inside position.

You couldn't have watched the same game.

Can't remember ever seeing a Celtic player come into his own like Green is. He really is developing inot a big time NBA star.

It's too early to proclaim Green as a big time NBA star.

Whatever he is, he is by far the best player out of the trade in 2011.  Amazing we stuck with him and he is one of the most talented players in the NBA.  Ainge was right all along.

Sully was turning into a monster on the boards...

That just shows how bad we are. We need him in there.  It's him or Wilcox. Hell with small ball and Do.

Remember, the Celts won with small ball in 2008.

KG, Posey, Pierce, Ray, and House closing out games.

The problem is the small ball of this season is just not good as the small ball of 2008.

Pierce and Kg are probably 70-75% of 2008..

Let's not forget that Perkins was a crappy rebounder

Green is just as effective on the boards with way more offensive game.

Advantage Ainge. Imagine if Kristic resigned ? Still the best Celtic trade since KG arrived....

Some wanted to trade him for Rudy Gay....

He is already as good as Gay at a fraction of cost and no attitude...

I agree.  I hope he gets to that level.  What bothered me is when Pierce didn't play Green scored 10 and 14 pts against the Bobcats and Wolves.  Its a lot easier  to be productive when someone else is drawing the attention.  Even Addleman said he was glad he didn't have to come up with a plan to stop both Jeff and Paul.

The small  ball and the lack of boxing out is truly embarrassing. Small ball is on the coach; the lack of boxing out is on the players. Really, really embarrassing. I almost can't root for a team that will not box out. Heinson critized the stupid small ball that put the Piston back in the game; thanks Doc. And, he also critized the players for not putting a body on somebody. Other than Randolph there is not one player on the Celtics who will put his body on somebody. Who do the Celtics think they are (coach and players) that they don't need to box out. Or that they can go with three guards, Pierce and Randolph. Very embarrassed for the Celtics - team, coach and this fan.

Doc has no choice but to go small.

Wilcox keeps making mistakes on defense.

    Randolph is not good enough.

Exactly,,likie doc just loves playing players that can't play D..

If we had them, theyd be playing..duh..

    +100

Thats one reason I would like to see more of Randolph,  how much worse could he be?
