Celts in 4-1 in last 5

So it looks like this team is starting to put it together.

Still need to upgrade that PF spot.

KG and Bass just had 5 rebounds each. Not good enough.

Celts are rebounding worse this season compared to last season.

    The elephant in the  room.

If DA wants a true contender, he'll have to find  someway to address it this season.

    True!

The ideal is to get someone who's taller but can also make those perimeter shots like Bass.

    Ideal Candidates:

    Amare

    Gasol

    Al Jefferson

    Josh Smith

    My initial take:

Amare - Contender within  our Division.  Not  likely.  Amare's health always an issue

Gasol - Huge contract.  We would have to bundle  players & maybe picks.  Lakers do have a weak bench and I believe are bereft of  picks.  Would rock NBA & countless C & L fans if it goes down.  Maybe more likely than it seems on the surface.

Al Jefferson Cons - Utah is a contender.  Pros - I am clueless, but AJ would be a huge plus,  maybe the best of the lot.

Josh Smith  - Great player, but somewhat erratic, like his buddy RR.  Expiring contract for  JS that we're all well aware of.  Wonder what the price is  and DA would have to go a  bridge too  far (AB) to land him.

Re: Celts in 4-1 in last 5

None of those guys can shoot like Bass except maybe Amare. But again I doubt very seriously we are trading for damaged goods.  Jefferson is not a good shooter, has improved a little since he left Boston but he still gets his points close to the rim.  I would take him for that fact. Josh Smith has never been a good shooter but he does other things.  His shooting isn't terrible if he stays away from the 3 ball.  Within his range he isn't bad.  I would take him as well.

Gasol is not bad shooting either if he has the time to get it off.  Again he does a lot of other things better than outside shooting.  Of course any of these trades we don't need to give the farm away to get them.  I could see the Lakers trading Gasol to someone if they could get a couple of good wing men to run in their new coaches system.  They keep talking about the pick and roll with Howard and Nash.  The only way that works is if Howard gets dunks because he can't shoot.  A good guard and a good forward and a pick could get Gasol.  The other reason they might do it is they are so thin everywhere.

The team is coming together.  I am really happy with Wilcox's improvement.  He can be a big help.  But I am waiting for them to get beyond finding themselves and turn nasty.

I don't see a big trade happening.  The Celts will have to trade too many players and will need to rebuild the chemistry on the fly.  We have to hope for continued improvement in everybody on the roster.

Heat of the moment sentiment, Kirk?
