Could DH be Available? Would the C's Want Him?

    Wow! This guy is something!

NBA RUMORS: DWIGHT HOWARD REPORTEDLY MOCKED KOBE BRYANT AT NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND

NBA Rumors: Dwight Howard kobe bryant

It would appear that Dwight Howard‘s collective performance at NBA All-Star Weekend was one for the ages. Not only did he turn in a rather uninspired performance on the court (including a weirdly detached, sort of abrasive interview with Craig Sager from the bench during the game), but he also apparently went out of his way to publicly drive the rift between himself and Kobe Bryant deeper than it has ever been.

The New York Post published a report that Dwight mocked Kobe openly in the locker room in front of the rest of the players (Watch Dwight clown Kobe on the Lakers team plane earlier this season). From the report:

Relations between Kobe Bryant and his Lakers teammate Dwight Howard were beyond icy during the weekend’s All-Star game in Houston — with Howard mocking Bryant behind his back in the locker room, sources exclusively tell Page Six. Amid other reports that the Lakers’ chilly on-court chemistry was spilling into the locker room, we’re told that Howard “grabbed Kobe’s uniform, put it on, and imitated him in front of all the other players on the West team. He was joking and berating Kobe” to fellow NBA stars, including the Clippers’ Chris Paul and Blake Griffin and Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant. The source added Bryant later arrived in the locker room, “said hello to everyone on the team except Howard, grabbed his stuff and moved as far away from Howard as he could.” Despite a recent clear-the-air meeting in Memphis, relations haven’t thawed.

Mocking Kobe in front of his peers? Wow. Sorry, there’s no coming back from this one, Lakers fans.

If this is true, Mitch is attempting to trade him as I type!

The guy who walks on water in LA has spoken. He strongly influenced Shaq's departure so why not DH ?

Kobe OK with a Howard trade:

Howard is damaged goods and unhappy; why note move him? One thing about Kobe, he wants to win.

Kobe needs to figure out he is not the GM.  While he may be "okay" with a Howard trade, he needs to think of what is best for the TEAM - something he has been unable to do since the Shaq days.

They can't trade Gasol, and they will pretty much dare Howard to leave at the end of the year.  I don't think they'll trade him, but Mitch is playing with fire here.  He is the type that would get the coach fired and STILL leave!!!!

Unless you are a troll...then everything is ok in Lala land, and once Nash returns, good times (72 wins) are just around the corner...

How could the Lakers not be thinking about moving him right NOW?  DH has made it clear he is becoming a FA at the end of the season, he has a decent sized rift with Kobe, he has been playing uninspired basketball, and the team is going no where with no draft pick.  Mitch can keep saying we are not trading DH as much as he wants, but anyone with a brain knows it is crazy if that has not crossed his mind.

If MK can't get a haul in return why would he trade Howard?  He gave up a good player to get him, and I believe the Lakers can offer him the most money by a longshot (correct me if I'm wrong).  Will Howard walk away from LA because maybe he and Kobe aren't best pals? Plus, who will give up a haul to get a hurt, head-case rental player who looks like he can't handle the bright lights of the big city?

Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, San Antonio, to name a few?

PS: add Cleveland, Utah, Indiana, Houston, Charlotte...

All it takes is one, and he is gone.  One of the bad teams might take a chance on him, how could the Lakers ignore that?

Of the teams you mention, 1 or 2 are legit contenders that might be ok with a DH rental if it could put them over the top.  They'd load up and take their chances in the offseason once he hits FA.  But do they need to eviscerate their team to acquire DH?  Likely.  And in his less-than-healthy state I am not sure if he makes any of them a contender.  Plus the Lakers know if they keep him they can re-sign him for more than anyone else.

I can't see it happening, just my opinion.

Sorry, I misunderstood.  I am not talking about rental.  I am talking about all those teams might want to sign him when he becomes a FA after this season.  Lakers cannot be blind to the possibility.  This is definitely uncharted territory for the Lakers, usually it is the other way around where good players are clamoring to go there.

    WOOOHOOO!!!

    Couldn't be better news.

Now maybe Mitch will trade Howard for our little petulent over-rated Rondo!!!!

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

With Howard we automatically become Championship contenders.
