Courtney Lee, Fab Melo and #16 to OKC?

    For Perkins and #12...

    Good idea?

T-will and Crawford will take over for C Lee.

We've got to do something to help KG in the frontcourt!!!

We undervalued what Perk did for Kevin.

OKC would save money overall and gain flexibility.

Lee would improve their perimeter D and Melo can definitely block shots as a bench player in a zone. Plus, a good player is still available at #16.

    Everybody wins.

The 16th pick also makes less money than the 12th. Plus 12-16 in a draft is a very marginal difference in talent available if you do your homework. We picked up Al Jefferson (#15)and Rondo (#13?) in that range.

Tony Allen and Kevin Martin in the 20's. Avery Bradley at #19.

#16 is a great spot. 12 is just a little better.

They still have more flexiblity because its more individual pieces to mix n match in trade scenarios at lower individual prices. Plus they are saving money if they don't move anybody which is more financial flexibility.

Nobody - other than Doc -wants Courtney Lee's albatross contract.

They may let Kevin Martin and his 12 mil/yr walk. If so, they could seriously need Courtney alongside Reggie Jackson or even as a starter alongside Westbrook.

Pretty good defensive backcourt, Westbrook and Lee.

Yeah, but OKC also loses their starting C.

I noticed they turned to Collison and Ibaka a ton in the playoffs.

We could possibly send them Wilcox instead of Melo.

If Dieng goes before #12, forget it all!!!

If not we'd have Perk, Dieng and Melo/Wilcox as our centers.

Garnett, Bass, and Beast on the Boards (Sullinger) to round out our frontcourt mix n match combos.

Obviously Sully will not be playing third stringer minutes.

How about Melo and Jordan Crawford for Collison?

They need scoring off the bench, they still have Perk, Ibaka, Thabeet, PJIII and some kid named Durant.

For  the 12th pick yes. DA screwed the Thunder by dumping a one trrick pony with an inflated ego and shaky durability for an All Star this coming season, I'm saying it now. Perk is more broken down now than Rashweed. Face the facts the Thunder paid 7.8 mil for 19 min 2.2 pts,3.7 rbs, .73 stls, .45 Blks, 2.2 TOs,3.5 Fouls per game. Nick Collison in 16  minutes per was better in EVERY CATEGORY and at 2,9 mil. Oh YEAH, how can DA sleep at night trading that stud for Sully and JG ? If he does it is from a guilty conscience not regret.

VERY BAD IDEA.  Perkins is litle more than a big scowling lump of flesh who can simply block the middle, but has no shot, no hands, can't pass, and can't rebound.  It was obvious that Memphis, and other teams have learned how to exploit those weaknesses.

Why do you think we got rid of hm in the first place?

No, we need to build around a young more all around and versitle center.   Rondo, another limited and highly flawed player, will be traded so some sucker in order for us to get out center of the future.  Melo, who will be better than Perkins ever was, in 2-3 years will provide the brute backup center need in the future.

Perks value is that he is one of 4 most physical centers in the league. HOWARD,PERK, BYNUM, M.GASOL.

He is paid to defend these guys because not many others can. He makes the least of these guys because he can't score like them.

He's one of the few centers Lebron and Wade FEEL when they crash into them.

Perk is done. Can't do that trade till you know KG is coming back anyhow. Perk got exposed in the playoffs and if OKC had amnestied him, they'd still have Harden. I wouldn't give up Melo for Perk at this point, Melo may have more upside. Does have more upside.

Sam Presti would smother his mother to get out from the Perkins contract (4yrs/35mil) with 2 yrs remaining.  There has been talk of a possible amnesty.  He has been a disaster in OKC and in a sense his awful contract forced their hand to move Harden.

Here are his playoff stats (11 gms) for this past year to wet your appetite.

    2.2 Points Per Game
    2.2 Turnover Per Game
    3.7 Rebounds Per Game
    3.5 Personal Fouls Per Game

His postseason stat sheet featured as many turnovers (24) as points (24) and nearly as many fouls (39) as rebounds (41).

Very true.  Their championship window is short.  They need a cheaper backup 2.  Sam Presti has to put together a championship roster while avoiding luxury tax.  He can try to draft a 2 to replace Kevin Martin.  Or he can trade Perkins and #12 for Terry and salary cap fodder (TWill, DJWhite, Shavlik Randolph).  If Paul Pierce gets bought out, they can try to sign Paul for mid-level exception.
