    CP3 or D12

    Apparently CP3

After the Lakers decided not to trade for Chris Paul late on Saturday night, the Clippers, Celtics, and Warriors were popular trade targets among those who cover the game.

Some have gone as far as to report that talks with the Clippers will reignite, but this isn't going to be pretty or easy. David Stern blew the only deal the Hornets had, and now they're going to get one-year rental offers unless Paul decides he's willing to extend. Perhaps Danny Ainge is still willing to trade Rajon Rondo, and some will say that the Clippers may trade Eric Gordon, and Stephen Curry will be the focus in Golden State. None of those deals make sense for a guy that's going to walk in free agency, though Ainge's closing championship window make cause him to pull the trigger.

    Re: CP3 or D12

Probably neither.  Or probably CP3 is getting traded.

CP3 has lost all leverage.  Either he commits to sign and NO trades him to the highest bidder for proper return.  Or he loses much money and leaves via free agency.  But other than the Celtics, not many reasonable teams will have cap space by then.  And they will have Rondo.

Same with DH.  If Orlando does not trade him, NJ has to load up with Nene.  Then, there is no cap space in any of Howard's preferred destinations.  He either stays in Orlando or chooses to go to another non-contender.

Danny is very well positioned to get CP3.  And looks like it is "Hello Kwame Brown!"  Or some such.  David West will be acquired and amnestied next year to maintain cap space, if it will make sense.

Boy, it is fun to speculate!!  Also, it is fun to watch the Lakers self-destruct.

The amnesty is only for old contracts. Contracts signed after the ratification of the new CBA are not eligible for amnesty.
