6'11"  from Wisconsin, so he knows how to play the game the right way:

The 6-foot-11-inch Stiemsma was named the 2010 NBA Development League Defensive Player of the Year after he averaged 9.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and a league-leading 3.7 blocks per game for Sioux Falls.    - that from the Celtics blog

If we keep KG, West, Bass, Jajuan, and Wilcox then that means we will have no true Center. Doesn't make sense. Unless the Celts are planning on tanking this season. There's no way a line-up like that will beat the Heat, Knicks, and Bulls. The Nets might end up being better than Celts this season.

I disagree. The Heat nearly won the title this year without a real center. Traditional centers are going the way of the dinosaur. On 2/3 of the teams in the league, it's a position manned by power forwards.

It's like BB making the Pats go 4-3 instead of the 3-4?

    Good analogy?

Signing a 31-year old David West reminds me of Xavier McDaniel joining the Celts after Larry Bird retired in 1992. At that time the X-Man was 29 years old.

Players take better care of themselves than ever before and David West is a much better player than Xavier McDaniel ever was; West plays elite defense, for one.

Re: C's Very Close to getting David West????

Exactly! The Heat didn't win because they didn't have a true Center like Tyson Chandler. Ever since the Mavs acquired Kidd and Caron Butler they went nowhere. When they got a true Center, Tyson Chandler, they won a championship.

The Heat didn't lose because of Tyson Chandler. The Heat lost because LeBron James and Dwayne Wade took turns choking away sizeable leads, because Dirk Nowitzki channeled the spirit of Michael Jordan and had the best stretch of his basketball life, and because role players like JJ Barea and Jason Terry vastly overachieved. If the 2010-2011 Heat and 2010-2011 Mavericks played 100 games against each other, the Heat would win 80 of them. The best team doesn't always win the championship. There are flukes, there are chokes, there are anomalies. The Mavericks lucked out bigtime and even they know it.

That's why this dude is about to break the bank, and why CP3 would sign with the team he goes too....c'mon...., he helped the Mav's a lot. Fierce is right.

Surprisngly I saw this guy(Chandler) at a gas station and he was not nearly as big or tall as he looks on TV.

Of course Chandler is a very good player who contributed to Dallas' championship run. I'm not denying that at all. But the Heat still beat themselves. Their second half collapses were enormous. They couldn't score for literally several minutes at a time, always at the end of games. No defense is that good.

If a dominant bigman were the difference, then the Orlando Magic would have won by now. Dwight Howard is the best center in the league and he has nothing to show for it, despite a solid supporting cast (pre-Arenas trade).

Thought the C's used a trade exception to get Dooling?
