"The issue isn't the absence of Perkins - he was missing for most of the season."

Missing is different from the emotional fallout of Perk being traded. Are you denying that there was emotional fallout from a tightly knit starting five from this trade? Chemistry and motivation are a BIG part of sports.

Having said that, I'm not ready to write this team off. Lately the trade looks like it was a bad move, but we'll see. Even Ainge said he was counting on Shaq being healthy to make this work. We'll see.

"Perk was out all year with the knee, Celtics kicked butt w/o him. Now hes been traded and he is injured again, out for season. Your argument doesnt hold water."

You're clearly a great debater. You might want to come with the facts next time. Perk is NOT out for the season.

Here's some actual FACTS for you about OKC: "Kendrick Perkins has only played in six games for the Thunder this season, but Oklahoma City is 5-1 in those games. The team's defense has improved dramatically, by 10.5 points per game when Perkins plays."

How is the Celts' record since the Perk trade? Umm, not nearly as good.

Please redo your arguments with these FACTS in mind.

Bravo to all of you who have now developed 20/20 hindsight.

In Response to Re: Danny blew up a 1st place team:
Just like the second half of last yeat this team is just going through the motions.  It has nothing to do with losing Perk and everything to do with lacking focus and Rondo's poor play.

The starters also need more rest.  They haven't been playing well during the last few weeks.  Playing less minutes for the remainder of the season may help them.  It would also give the second unit more time to develop chemistry.  The starters are not intentionally trying to lose games.
