Danny has done pretty well in my opinion...he has found a few pretty good players using mid first or second round selections....to name a few..

    Kendrick Perkins

    Al Jefferson

    Delonte West

    Tony Allen

    Ryan Gomes

    Rajon Rondo

    Leon Powe

Jeff Green (traded for Ray Allen and now back in Boston)

    Glen Davis

    Avery Bradley

    Jared Sullinger

these guys are all playing NBA ball....it's not like all of our picks have been top 5 or 10....

Honestly, this reveals more about Darko than Doc. Darko really had that little patience to stay for what? a quarter of a season? He absoultey would have gotten minutes if he had committed himself to a full year. What a loser.

Thanks, some common sense prevails...Its always the same posters that drugdge up some anti-doc rhetoric...notice, not one comment regarding attitudes, hard work, defensive efforts, or anything like that,,its just doc,doc,doc..quite revealing....

Maybe he did leave because of Doc...nah,nah,nah...he was the coach..that's why the rest of the players stayed....Darko has an acute case of bustoritis..

Doc never ever plays any of the rookies. The lone exception has been Sullinger. I don't know why the Celtics even bother with the draft anymore because unless you're someone special the end of the bench is where you'll be parked for the entire year. Why Danny selected Fab Melo is beyond me. Don't these people get paid to do their job and evaluate potential players ? If ypou're not going to play the people ypu draft ehy not package your picks in a trade. Nate Robinson played another great game tonight. Good move Danny !

You are absolutely correct. When you have a coach in Doc Rivers that absolutely refuses to play rookies you might as well package your draft pick for a veteran that will be used. What would likely happen is a deal like the one Boston used to trade Joe Johnson when two average players were obtained but used. Of course, Joe Johnson turned out to be a monster and those two average players turned out to be, well, average. But, they were used. Yeah, draft picks are useless for the Celtics for a few reasons: 1) Danny Ainge is really bad in selecting players 2)Doc doesn't like Danny Ainge's picks and won't use them 3) Doc doesn't play rookies. Boston might as well bring in a decent player to help the bench. Nobody is going to trade an allstar for a draft pick unless the pick is in the top 5.

What is your criteria to be "really bad in selecting players"?

Can you name 3 managers that are better at drafting?

Funny, they never use stats..other than opinions and  accusations...

Well said guys! Danny's done ok in the draft compared with other GMs. Give him his credit for his good picks and lash him for his busts. Big Baby worked out great and was an example of a good late pick and a rookie Doc played. I tend to give DA a lot of slack on his picks but Doc does seem to hold the young guys back. I think that is a legitimate beef. He seems obsessed with protecting the teams identity- agression and ubuntu - and we kinda get that too when you see Rondo taking the keys to the castle and the 'feel' of the team changes.

Darko? Good pre-season is a load of crap, same as 'oooh he's great in the locker room. he's great in training'...Darko is a flop and he was worth a throw of the dice to see would his dignity kick in. Sadly it didn't. We didn't fail here. Darko did.

Don't give a darn about Darko. But Nate Robinson, now looking mature under Thib. Baby made Captain now looking mature in Florida. Not playing Randolph (in the playoffs) when he gave 110% every minute he was on the floor and produced in the regular season. 7 man rotation that had to fail. Doc like the team, just kind of flamed out at the end. They can't bring back the band (KG,CPP and Doc); Doc can stay and rebuild, or KG and CPP can stay as 20-25 min a game still productive veterans/mentors but with a new coach. But Doc and the veterans just leads to bad results at this juncture.

The guy quit after five games.

Who would want a beach like that on your team?

Probably because there are little to no stats that would justify those statements. Smile

    Darko stinks.

So does your demographic agenda here. It's pathetics when others fall for it.

The story was in the Herald yesterday. Go take a look at it. Ainge states Darko finally admitted he left because of no playing time.

SShhh, if true they might have to think up another spin to put on the story. Remember, nobody wanted him.. just like nobody wanted KMartin and Birdman... and Darko also wasnt a good player in the past, therefore he stinks now no matter what he did on the court for the C's..

Stop ruining Docs media rep... hes the wundercoach that needed zero training or tutelege.. from player right into head coach... Dont u think he sounds just as competent as Pop and THibs in the huddle???

Just listened againg to the huddles of Chicago and NY in NBA TV. Actually, all the coaches tell the same crapola 90 % of the time. "Concentrate, trust each other, take every possessions serious, blabla". I'm not even sure if most of the players can understand more in that moment.

When Coach Tom Thibideau left so left the real coach of the Boston Celtics. when Lawrence Franks left so left the next best coach of the Boston Celtics. When Doc cries about losing his two buds next year I hope he joins Tom and Lawrence. Though when that happens I won't be saying there goes the best coach of the Boston Celtics.
