Re: Deshawn Sims signs with Boston for camp

This guy played for the C's in Orlando Summer League 2010 ... Seems to me he played SF and was pretty good with the o/s shooting and a quick step to the basket as well. He should be better now and could be a 3rd option at SF in case Wallace is moved.

    http://www.masslive.com/sports/index.ssf/2010/07/boston_celtics_2010_orlando_su.html

Back in 2010 just as now everyone thinks he's a PF but he was used at SF and measures in under 6'7" ... I see the C's using him as a shooting wing. Here's the same mistake made back then my some blogger @ ridiculousupside.com

DeShawn Sims, PF, Michigan - Sims might not belong with the bigs, technically, since he measured in at under 6-foot-7 at the Portsmouth Invitational.  But, there's no way I could see him playing on the wing in the NBA, so here is where he's going to end up.

A four-year player at Michigan, Sims averaged a pretty impressive 16.8 points and 7.6 rebounds his senior year for the Wolverines while relying on a pretty versatile offensive game that includes everything from a back-to-the-basket fadeaway jumper to a meddling three-point shot.

If he's able to play as hard with the Celtics as he should have at Michigan, there's a chance he could make the leap as undersized-college-power-forward to whatever-Marcus-Landry-was-for-the-Celtics.

Wrong!  He'll be a wing in the NBA ... Let's see if Danny doesn't play him at that position ....

Hard to believe Sims will make the final cut if the Celts have Sully, Oly, Humpy, and Bass at the PF position.

YOU ALL LAUGHED AT ME WHEN I SAID THAT DANNY AINGE HAS A PF FETISH....

    who's laughing now?

Re: Deshawn Sims signs with Boston for camp

I hope he makes it. I'm with DA on this. Everyone else has it wrong. The KEY to winning in today's NBA is with an all PF starting lineup. Seriously, its a sure-thing.

    Bass

    Green

    Sully

    Olynyk

    Humpty

    Greene

    Sims

Seriously, if you count Fav (who's an undersized Center as a PF) ... we are TWO PFs away from getting to a starting lineup and a bench of all PFs. Banner 18 here we come!

P.S. I think this is partly why DA wanted Evans and not Brooks in the deal. Evans would have been a great addition to our all-PF team

Re: Deshawn Sims signs with Boston for camp

Sims has played both SF and PF.  He will be playing SF, not PF, in the Celtics camp and if he makes the team.

Since we are thin at the SF positon and given his skills, recent improvement and achievement he could very well make the team, depending upon Danny roster moves.

and I think "signs" is a misnomer.  He was invited to participate in camp.

Danny can move Bogans or even waive him if he thinks Sims will be more valuable ...

We'll see what happens if Sims looks better than Bogans in camp. And, there's always the Redclaws for Sims until another spot opens so don't be so quick to write him off cause Danny certainly hasn't going back to 2010-11.'

Danny isn't going to waive Bogans.  Sims could make the team if:

    1. He excels in camp and

    2. There is a roster spot opening due to a trade

Otherwise he will spend some more time in Maine.

Re: Deshawn Sims signs with Boston for camp

Everybody knows that a S&T can't be moved for 60 days or 12/15th whichever comes later ... Danny can still stash Sims in Me until Bogans is moved if a spot isn't freed up sooner.
