    doc is our biggest chip now

    if he wants out (or is at least considering it), as is being reported;

    and if teams like the clippers (or the grizz) are serious about his services,

    the fact that we have him signed to 3 more years is a blessing. and a coup for danny ainge.

    either doc coaches the celts next season (seems unlikely now), walks away (likely to the broadcast booth), or moves on to a team like the clipppers (or grizz), which would be a great fit for LA. they have talent in chris paul and blake griffin. they have some young players they could send us for KG. the have parted ways with del negro and have yet to hire anyone. they want to keep paul around, and hiring doc and bringing in a guy like KG would guarantee that.

    so with LA looking like the likley desintation for doc, we hold ALL the chips. i'm sure all of this is already going on. the details are just being worked out. we will all know something very soon. we'll get picks and players and possibly cash in a deal for doc and KG (and possibly PP).

    if a rebuild is going to happen, at least we've got some chips in doc rivers and KG (and possibly PP) that we can cash in. then you step back and assess what you've got when the dust settles. if you need to trade RR (once he's shown his knee is healthy), then you can do that too. in all, i think we're in as good a place as any to start the rebuild. and maybe doc's not the guy for that job anyway.

    i'm using "trade" in the loosest of senses. certainly, as has been published by actual sports reporters, we can receive compensation for doc in the form of cash or draft picks, right?

    Do you realize that by including the coach in a trade, that's circumventing the salary cap rules!

    The only way the Clips are going to get Doc Rivers is if the Celts give them permission to talk to Rivers. That's the only way!

    No coach has ever been traded in the history of the NBA.

    It would not be a trade it would be compensation.  Only players can be traded.  Get your facts straight.  Idiot

    Right, it can happen, it just wouldn't be labeled a trade. He definitely is our biggest chip.

    Its one helluva note when your biggest "trading chip" is a coach who at best is ambivalent  about staying with the team.

    Its been a long time festering.

    Management looks awfully bad beginning at the very top.

    Doc is doing us all a favor by pulling up his tent pegs and making noises about moving on... sooner rather than later.

    Pud

    Wish DOc would stop all the "I need attention" hinting and get the heck out of here.  What an albatross hes been to the team developing.. Take that diva with you too
