Or is it too many good young players to sacrifice for just one that does not perform well in the post season?

josh smith is not just a playoff choker, he shoots 50% free throws this regular season and ALWAYS way below average for a 4. he's a career 28% 3 point shooter who won't stop shooting 3's....... we had that before- antoine walker. smith is more athletic but really has a total of zero post moves and only scores successfully in the paint if he can juke someone and then get a running start from far away.
THAT is why his game flies south every playoffs when the floor tightens up- all he's left to do is gun his poor selection of outside shots. he's not worth 13.2M this year and you'd really have to have your head examined to give him a PAY RAISE in a new contract- he's just not worth it. he puts up $10M / year type of numbers with major holes in them like 3PT%, FT% and shot selection- the ONE YEAR smith stopped taking 3's he immediately became a more acceptable .505 FG% shooting 4, more like what you'd want to see. only he couldn't stay with that line of smart thinking. he's also 3 turnovers a game.and just watch the "dennis hopson effect" as his numbers would fall coming to a team where he might not be the 2nd option any more... i say stay away

Toine was actually a the better player. You're assessment of Josh is perfecto. He doesnt deserve a raise for sure. He is a better rebounder at the 4 than Brandon and maybe a better defender. But we would lose in the halfcourt offense with Josh. -

for one thing we'd have an 8 man roster left.

Exactly acie! Smith is Walker 2.0! He constantly jacks up 3's, when he's got a very good inside game. I never understood it with Antoine, and I don't get it with Smith. On top of that, he's also kind of stuck in between a 3 and a 4. He doesn't really fit either position. In other words, he's a great player on a bad team, a pretty good player on a good team, but not a guy to build your team around.
