    Bingo!!!!!

Smart NOT a bad pick...he's tough and a fighter on the court...he'll be OK...

You're kidding, the C's were 26 in the league in scoring so what does DA do, but draft a defensive guard.  C's will be lucky to avg 94 points per game.

LMAO!  Let's see, a C's team avg. 94 pts/game equals last place in the weakest conference in league history since the C's ran the table in a eight team league!  Son, you know nothing about the game except what you copy and paste from your web "sources"  lol

Olynik last year, this year Smart if kept will surprise many out there...watch out.. 6'4" 227.. No Dennis Johnson here..Good stuff...DA did the right pick

You can't compliment Smart and insult DJ in the same sentence. Smart is a 21st Century version of DJ. I have called him an athletic DJ or Fat Lever all year (or a more above the rim Jason Kidd without the court vision).

Smart is proud of his 227 lbs of muscle in an era where the best SF in the world checks in a 260. DJ came from an era where the 250lb Parish was listed at 230, The 235lb Larry Bird was listed at 220 and the 210lb Johnson listed at 185. Parish loved weed, Bird beer and DJ BBQ and those listed weights a joke, they were weighed before the draft and remained that weight for their entire careers.... HA!

Re: Draft Day Thread! Let the Fireworks Begin!!

I see a LOT of Smart in DJ.

DJ was a 6'4" comb-guard (listed as a SG) for the first half of his career, averaging 34-35 minutes, 17-18 points, 4-5 rebounds, 3-4 assists and 1-2 steals over a 5 years span age 24-28 before being traded to the Celtics and moved to PG. In those 5 years he was 1st team all-defensive in each one, made 4 all-star games, an All-NBA 1st and 2nd team, oh and was the 1979 NBA finals NBA.

Smart is starting his career at age 20 instead of 22, so if he put together 6-7 years like that at the end of his rookie deal and during his first extension, I think we'd do cartwheels.

DJ took 184 three pointers in those 5 years and made 36 of them! That is 19.5%. Ouch. What is Smart's biggest knock? Shooting. Well, shooting and a confrontational/aggressive personality that rubs some the wrong way.... hey, wasn't that how DJ got himself traded to Boston for pennies on the dollar??

They are both fierce competitors, elite defenders, poor outside shooters and have the size to play both guard positions. DJ gave Magic fits. Smart said today he relishes the challenge of D'ing up LeBron.

He was my 3rd choice after Gordon and Vonleh, assuming Wiggins, Parker, Embiid and Exum were gone. I wanted him BAD the first half of the college season and thought we might not get a high enough pick to land him. I love it.

Re: Draft Day Thread! Let the Fireworks Begin!!

DJ was washed up by the 1988-89 season that Bird was injured for and Red failed to trade McHale for Schrempf/Perkins and drafted Michael Smith over Tim Hardaway, setting this franchise back years.

But in the 5 years before that, when Boston made 5 East finals, 4 finals and won two, DJ was a 35-36 minute a game PG proving 13-15 points, 5-7 assists, 3-4 rebounds and over a steal a game (including one VERY famous one) and was content being overshadowed by the Big Three because the Celtics were WINNING and he made 1 all-star game, 1 All-D 1st team and three All-D second teams.

If Smart can have a second half of his career, 6-7 seasons age 28-29 to 34-35, I think people would do cartwheels over THAT as well.

He can play PG alongside Avery and is tall enough to cover the tallest SG's that would give Avery a hard time. He can swing over and play SG with a more traditional PG beside him and is ready right now. Winning.

Re: Draft Day Thread! Let the Fireworks Begin!!

Fat Lever by the way was a 6'3" PG who put up these crazy numbers over 4 years from 1986-1990 before an injury at age 29 basically ended his career.

19 points, 8.8 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 2.5 assists making twp all-star games and a 2nd team All-defensive and 2nd team All-NBA while playing the obscurity of Denver.

All while shooting just under 30% from behind the line.

Imagine if Smart was an athletic Fat Lever who put up those numbers for a decade on the best franchise of all-time instead of four seasons in Denver?

Let's hope Smart turns out to be a D. Johnson type of player!

Smart drives to the rim often and without fear. Reminds me a bit of D. Wade in that regard.

Like both picks - Young's upside is HUGE if the Cs can improve his work ethic!

Too bad we traded our 2nd round away last year.  Not sure it was necessary to move a up a few spots to get Oly.

I think that Danny Ainge traded up to get Olynyk when he didn't have to. Blown draft pick.

Why? KO has shown flashes. If he wasn't getting into foul trouble which he did quite often due to being a rookie and not getting any calls and having slow feet he had many serviceable games. I like his offensive game it's his defense he needs to work on.
