    Dwight Howard comments

What does everybody think about Dwight's comments?  I can't stand him and can't believe that he said that the Lakers should have amnestied Kobe and fired the coach.  The Lakers are better off without him.

I don't think the Lakers are better without Dwight.

Missing out on Dwight Howard means the Lakers will not be close to getting to the Finals for the next 10 years.

The Celtics and Lakers will both struggle for the next few years but once Kobe retires and some of the other older players leave the Lakers will have money to spend to improve the team.  Also LA is an attractive destination for free agents and they could sign a top free-agent when they have the cap space available.

I think that Dwight's comments point out a real problem with the Lakers (Kobe Bryant and his ego).  I saw many games where Andrew Bynum just stop playing while challenging Kobe to win it all by himself.  He was labeled as immature and a head case.  But the bottom line is that Kobe is not ready to make any adjustment and that everybody else has to adjust around him.  Not everybody is ready to submit to that.  Bynum didn't and Dwight didn't want to.

Say whatever you may, Dwight has a very nice aspect to him.  He wants to be liked.  That is a likeable human aspect.  DH needs to figure out how to balance that against the requirement to be a bit of an egotistical maniac, a very important ingredient for winning competitively.

THE DUKE    this is the reason the Celtics are no longer the dominant team in the league.....as far as Boston goes, the free agents will come to play for the Sox and the Pats....but not the Celtics....there is no reason for the players of today to come to Boston when the season is played in the winter (Football is mostly played outside so that is an exception)....we cannot comptete with Los Angeles, Miami, and other cities offering a combination of great weather, night life, celebrities, and low taxes (Florida and Texas)....another reason why I hate (but understand) free agency in all sports....

Well at least Lakers showed a bit of loyalty, I guess. I can't stand him either. He's still a stat monster but he should be NBA dominant and not running his yap the whole time. He CHOSE the Lakers. And if DH thought Kobe was going to give his ego a a grease-down & a shiatsu when he had his own to polish then DH is just plain thick. Kobe was never out collecting for the Red-Cross Dwight. Get over it. Get back to your game and start to dominate. Clock is tickin' my friend. Don't let Shaq be right on this.

Jim Buss was showing his loyalty to Kobe and what he has accomplished for the Lakers.

Danny Ainge should have done the same for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett .

Why on earth?  Jim Buss being stupid does not mean that Danny has to be stupid as well.

Why should he cave in to player that really has accomplished nothing?

Well I guess too the Lakers aren't used to this stuff. When they want someone, they normally get him. Unless Stern says 'no.' So they probably thought...yeah he'll come around. More moolah. Showtime. Lakers. Legacy. Rings. Yeah Dwight will come a crawlin'.

No matter what the actions of DH and loyalty to Kobe...it's still hilarious how he just actually went and...walked.

A perfect example of how stupid Jimmy is when he traded 4 draft picks for a 38-year old Nash and gave him 27m for 3 years.

Seriously, Nash would turn 39 when the playoffs started and he'll be 41 years old by the time his contract expires.

    Jimmy is totally incompetent.

But he is still smarter than you

Were the last contracts Danny gave to KG and PP the smart thing to do?  A lot of people on the board did not think so

But a lot of people on the board were so happy when Ainge got 3 1st round picks for KG and Pierce.

What did the Lakers get for Dwight?

More cap space for next year
