Fraid I have to agree with you. Bosh plus the refs.... This year Bosh is even better but Boston has some new guns that might even the odds. KG is also healthy and playing like the monster he was!  I'll never forget that block Avery put on DWade and now he is healthy and experienced. We'll see what happens on the 18th. If the C's lose they still have another shot in April but teams might be shutting down by then. But then the second season or should I say third.

Yes but what about AB and Green?  Didn't Boston have major injury issues as well?  Minus Bosh, the Celts were very much into this series.

Well the Cs certainly had the option to rest CPP and RA all they wanted, playing them  ala Bosh-DNP... until game 6.

But for some inexplicable reason, short-sighted doc chose to play them instead of resting them.

Lets be honest.... the Cs got out-coached.... and out-gunned.... again.

If the Cs and Heat face off this POs, maybe we need to hold CPP or KG out until a Game 6.. and then... whammmo!

A "fresh" Bosh. I'ld like to see how they would have done against a "fresh" PP or Ray. I think we would have won that series if the shoe was on the other foot. Bosh had all the energy in the world. That's why he was so effective. What.... he played like 20 minutes the entire series?

You actually think resting Pierce and Playing Pietrius would have helped the Celtics RIIIIIIIIGHHGHT.  And Dooling starting over injured Ray? Title town here we come. Stick to spelling bees PUD.

Re: East scout on Rondo-less Celtics

barring the loss of either james or wade to injury, the celtics would do well to win one game in a series against the heat. with rondo the over/under would be 2 wins. with rondo and sullinger the same. the difference between playoff basketball and the regular season is like night and day. the celtics do not have one legitimate point guard; they are minus two legit bigs up front; they have no low post offense to speak of; they have very little shot blocking presence; they have huge rebounding holes; and their two primary go to scorers are past their prime. the east is very weak, which gives them a fighting chance to get past round one if they can stay out of the eight seed, but doing more than that would be a massive achievement (they win two rounds and this season is a huge success). players like crawford and williams will fall apart in the playoffs so the team is basically 8 deep with only two players 6 "10" and over. just not enough to get past a team like the heat, let alone a handful of teams in the west.

using jeff green and lebron james in the same sentence is so absurd as to defy follow-up. green comes off the bench for a marginal playoff team. future hall of famer, 3 time mvp james is the best player in the nba on the league's best team.

This is the post of the day!!  Fascinating collection of statements.

One of the posters suggested that the Heat beat us in the conference finals only because Bosh was very well rested, playing very little... but dominating us when he did.

We could have rested any or all of our Big Three too.

    So why didn't we?

Because wounded Pierce is better than wounded Pietrius. Because wounded Ray was better than Healthy Dooling.

And because Doc, being one of the best coaches in basketball knows this.

If the Celtics and Heat were both fully healthy last year it would have went seven games. And we might have beaten them.

Yes, but to focus on that one statement when you ignored the decimated Celtics roster and credited Bosh's absence as the reason for the Celts being competitive?

[/QUOTE]When Bosh returned, the series was over IMHO. No contest. Kaput.

Some else sez the reason the series was over was because Bosh was rested.  Okay.. if that's true we could have rested our star(s) too.

If they can put in a rested Bosh in Game 6 to turn the series around, we could have done likewise, couldn't we?

Or is it more complicated than that?

and who were we putting in for our rested stars? How many times does someone on this thread post the injuries we had last year. Because of those injuries it pressured the starters in to more minutes. Henceforth, taking a toll on their older bodies. Please post something else. The Heat were younger and could take a Bosh being hurt for a few games better than we could our youngest and best defender Bradley, Jeff Green not even playing and a depleted front line. Maybe that helps?

    Thanks, terrapin. That was helpful.

Bosh had been out injured for most of the previous month during the POs.

Against the Cs,  he comes back in game 5 and plays 14 minutes... rusty. Games 6 and 7 he plays 28 and 31 minutes, regains his form.... and Celtics lose convincingly.

Rested????  Not by choice but yes.

    Rusty? Yes.

    Finally available? For sure.

His injury/availability was a major determining factor in how the series ultimately turned out against a Heat team that was younger, deeper, stronger, and obviously better able  to play short-handed.
