Tues or they aren't eligible for the playoffs ... we could see Murphy, Powe & Butler clear waivers tomorrow ... hope nobody puts in a claim ... do the Lakers have any open roster spots? -

I dont think there are claims like in baseball... once someone is bought out they essentially become free agents. -

That is true, so let's hope there are few, if any, 'offers'. There WILL be some competition, but I think the C's have a good shot at several who are likely to be bought out, including Murphy. -

Really what sense does Bibby make? Why would he ever come here to play for ten minutes a game? Think about the sense of what you saying. He will go where the minutes are on another playoff contender. You have to let him go. -

I want Murphy. He fits the final piece for the C's to get Banner 18.forget Bibby!I like Powe and want to see him come back but Murphy is 6'11" and can shoot from the 3 pt range and will boost the team to GREAT expectations to become 2011 champs!!!!! -

That's not what this says unless a "buyout" is not technically the same as a "release."
> As teams start to look ahead after the trade deadline, there are several players that will be bought out or given their outright release.> All released players have to go through the waiver process which gives others teams the option of picking up that player's existing contract; a team with ample cap room could make a waiver claim on anyone who is released. Teams at or over the cap line have to wait out the waiver process and can negotiate with those players as unrestricted free agents.
> As long as a player is waived before March 1st, that player is eligible for the playoffs regardless of when that players signs a deal. Players waived after March 1st can play regular season games, they just cannot suit up for the playoffs.

can't see anyone with cap room claiming guys like murphy or bibby and having to pay them somewhere around $3 M (murphy) for the rest of the regular season. teams out of the playoff picture already are not interested in paying out any more money to finish in the lottery.
murphy will have to decide where he wants to finish the season if he gets multiple offers. -

Anyone BUT 'Sheed! Please NO Rasheed Wallace. If they need someone whose only skill is to miss open three's they might as well just let Baby keep firing from deep, at least he hustles. -

Why not Bibby? He can backup rondo while west backs up Ray Allen... He can shoot the three and has the playoff experience... . Besides in Boston he's got a big oportunity to win a title... while Miami is still a question mark if they are really that good... And after post season he's free to go :) -
