its like taking candy from a baby...

in the us. in 50 years tech has built up..you cant say it was bad that an era didnt have twitter...

in the nba charter it does not say..titles won before twitter mean less...

[QUOTE]Derek Jeter is not overrated at all. He is one of the greatest baseball players ever, plain and simple. Last I noticed, the Yankee captain just got his 3,000th hit for the Yankees. He is the real deal, the total package. A first ballot HOFer. A consummate professional. He has excelled in every aspect of the game for 17 years on the biggest stage in MLB and is the cornerstone of the current Yankee dynasty. Overrated.... not hardly. His stats are staggering. He is the complete player. Any comparison between Jeter and Rondo is pure fantasy. Pud

Would you call Jeter the best SS of all time? Would you call him the best player of all time? The best Yankee of all time? The best player on his team ever? Jeter is  Tim Raines with intangables and better teams.

There was lots of talk a while back about whether Jeter, A Rod, or Nomar was the best shortstop..... oddly, the best shortstop at the time was Omar Vizquel.  My in-laws live in St. Louis and there are countless times that I watched Ozzie do backflips while I was sitting 10 rows behind home plate.  Jeter is a great player and will obviously go to the hall of fame, etc. but let's not get carried away with best player every and all that crap.

As far as best point guard of all time - the idea that it is discussed on Boston.com is basically an invitation for the Rondo-ites to blather.......  how can Rondo be considered the greatest of all time if he is the 3rd best Celtic point guard of all time.

What is amazing to me is that there are about 35 posts and the name John Stockton didn't come up once.  The all-time leader in assists who in consecutive seasons averaged over 15 assists, 90% from the line, 50% from the floor, etc.....  Magic was indeed magic.... I remember hearing the stories of him ordering a "rainbow" before the game.... a blonde, brunette, and redhead for after the game......  Magic and Bird were the perfect rivals but I think if you put Magic first, Stockton is a close second........  Rondo is in the top 1000.....  he averages 10 assists like a bunch of other guys, he averages 3 or 4 rebounds like a bunch of other guys, he averages 2 steals like a bunch of other guys, and he is the worst shooter in the league and does whatever he can to avoid shooting which creates tremendous pressure on his own team's offense.....

Tim Raines was no slouch by any stretch. Maybe Jeter is Raines plus a whole lot more intangibles, a better team, a much larger stage and a sure fire 1st ballot HOFer.
