Evan Turner?

Don't know if the numbers would work, but would Minny be interested in Turner, Humphries, and Rondo for Love and Rubio? I know Rubio is a downgrade from Rondo but I wonder if he would flourish under Steven's direction? Thoughts?

I don't know if the numbers would work (or are relevant) but would Minny want Turner and Rondo and Humphries for Love and Rubio? I know Rubio is a downgrade but he might improve under Stevens. In the meantime, he already knows how to find Love for the open shot. Your thoughts?

Why would Love want to stay here without Rondo. Rubio didn't get it done in Minny with him, why'd it be any different here?

Hmmmm, why would DA be interested in another mediocre SF??

I think the Rockets are going to swoop in and steal Dragic from the Pacers.  Afterwards, DA will get Bird's full attention if Indy is still interested in upgrading the PG with Rondo.  I guess this is where Turner would come in?

STOP SAYING DRAGIC IS GOING ANYWHERE !

IT'S BLEDSOE WHO IS APPARENTLY ON THE MOVE, POSSIBLY TO BOSTON FOR RONDO IF THE CELTICS WILL GIVE HIM RONDO MONEY FOR 4 or 5 YEARS, PHX is ONE OF ONLY TEAMS THAT MIGHT ROLL THE BONES WITH RONDO FOR ONE YEAR AND EVEN IF HE LEAVES, THEY WILL HAVE LOTS OF ROOM TO BRING IN NEW STUDS.....APPARANTLY THEY ARE HAVING 2nD THOUGHTS ON PAYING BLEDSOE BIG LONG TERM MONEY - AND APPARENTLY, BLEDSOE IS LOOKING AROUND FOR ANOTHER TEAM WHERE HE WOULD HAVE A HIGHER NATIONAL PROFILE.....

DRAGIC IS NOT GOING TO INDIANA AND HE IS NOT ON THE TRADING BLOCK

"DA hopes that including Evan Turner in a deal could finally land us Love?"

That's not possible because if the Celts sign Turner, they can't trade him immediately.

So a scenario where the Celts sign Turner and immediately ship to Minny is not possible.

And I don't think Ainge is willing to sign Turner to a multi-year deal if there's no guarantee the Wolves would trade for Turner in the future.

Thanks Fierce.  Well at this point I'm convinced that DA is hellbent on landing Love.  And with that, to keep Love happy, I'm guessing he doesn't want to trade Rondo.

So the Bulls got Gasol.  Houston gave away all of their assets.  And Clev refuses to part with Wiggins, right?

Doesn't that leave Boston as the current front-runner?  I've read articles that suggest Flip is hoping to have this all worked out prior to the season, as Flip wants to focus his attention on coaching.  Maybe the C's will sign someone like Turner and then offer Minnesota:  Bradley, Green, Sully/Oly PLUS two or three 1st round picks?  I don't think any other team will come close to offering that much.

    I just checked.

Both Celtics and Wolves only have the MLE to offer Turner.

So the Wolves can outright sign Turner for the MLE.

    What happened ... wrong again?

You're the one who's wrong, again!

Signing Turner then shipping him to Minny for Love?

    HAHAHA

I thought Danny should pursue Turner (and you know it) and quess what?

    Turner's a Celtic!

Put that it your pipe and smoke it or would you prefer a dish of crow?

But rather than change the subject, what happened to Minney beating us out with the MLE?

And, why couldn't Turner have been traded in a deal for Love with a 30 day holding period before execution. Isn't that what the Cavs had to do? You were wrong thinking a 30 day delay would hamper a trade, as usual.

And regarding Turner taking a one year deal, it's possible but I don't think it happens ... both the C's and Turner need more than a year to re-establish his value. Maybe a two year with an option year. But once again you are wrong about players not taking one year deals due to the risk ... witness Monroe accepting the QO in order to become a FA next summer.

    Re: Evan Turner?

An NBA source said the Celtics are working to clear roster space over the next few weeks in order to make room for Evan Turner in the rotation. The Celtics aren’t expected to announce the signing until those moves are made, although the sides have reached an agreement. The Celtics have 18 players on their roster, including the nonguaranteed deals of Keith Bogans, Chris Babb, and Chris Johnson. The Celtics really like Johnson’s work ethic, but he averaged just 6.6 points in the five summer league games and shot 30.6 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from the 3-point line. The fact Johnson and Babb each played in all five games was a testament that team officials were taking a long look as to whether they would make a contribution next season. The Celtics would love to use Bogans’s contract in a trade that would perhaps net a draft pick and create salary-cap space and have been holding onto that option. It is uncertain if the Celtics would waive Bogans before the season or offer a camp invitation since he has been away from the team since February.

Gary Washburn can be reached at gwashburn@globe.com.

FWIW: Bogans needs to be traded or waived before the season starts or his guarantee for this season kicks in automatically. A camp invitation? Ain't gonna happen!

Agreed.....get on with the player transactions already. Cut some deadwood, make a deal and let's get the forming of the team moving forward. Some plan, involving Turner or not, is better than no plan.

    In response to CubanPete's comment:

He'll be gone in a year, minimizing the risk.

I looked up Turner's numbers. His shooting is terrible from the perimeter, can't finish, and makes too many turnovers. That said, he's a excellent defensive rebounder for a wing. His steals and blocks are mediocre, but he's not a bad defensive player. He can pass. If he can improve his D and come down on the turnovers, he could have value.

...the King of the Rumba Beat...

    Exactly my point.

What if he gets injured in that one year?

It's too risky on his part.

Established players are usually the ones who settle for 1 year deals.

I don't see Turner settling for a 1 year deal.

"Established" players are the ones who usually DON'T sign one yr deals......Turner is exactly the type of player who would take a 1yr deal, he wants to re-establish himself and get out of a losing situation and not be locked in, then he can sign for a better team once he proves he can be a part of the winning....

I like a guy playing for a contract. Give him 1yr and tell him to show the team what he can do.....wasn't Turner looking at getting $8-$10M a year before he got hurt then traded ? Based on the numbers he was putting up ?

After losing both Stephenson and George, I'll bet Bird regrets not picking up that QO now or at least negotiating with him as a FA.
