Every player we bring in needs to be a good defender, right?

That is the major secret to good team chemistry.

Every player brings different talents to the table, but the easiest common ground between the players is solid defense.

Nothing weakens chemistry like a single weak link on defense (or offense).

-(Westbrook's refusal to pass has made him a weak link for OKC sometimes)

-(Rondo's lack of an outside shot has made him a weak link in our offense at times)

-(Garnett has become a weak link when unable to get points in the paint putting more pressure on the jump shooters)

But more importantly, defense needs to be a team effort. You can get by on offense with 1 or 2 outstanding scorers. (Paul and Ray)(Westbrook and Durant)(Pippen and Jordan)(Thomas and Dumars)(Magic and Kareem) on and on.

So? How do we find an outstanding scorer to begin the transition from Paul and Ray? Is he in the draft or free agency?

Whoever we pick up, they better be capable of intelligent defense!

Absolutely, especially since in Danny's interview on WEEI he said that the defense was just as good with Shaq as it was with Perk and that in the end the OFFENSE is what let the team done.  I must have posted 100 times during the course of the season suggesting that the offense was actually the problem, Danny confirmed it after the season.

So DaCeltics - let's make sure we beef up the defense and continue to lose.......

Danny left out that better defense leads to easy offense when you force turnovers and get out in transition with a guy like Rondo.

Not necessarily. Defense can be learned. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce were not really good defenders until KG arrived and were schooled by Tom Thibodeau. Even Eddie House learned to play defense under Thibs. We need to bring in players with size, athleticism and a self-less hard-working attitude. I think it's more important that we have a great defense coach who commands the respect of the players.
