    For all Tankers.

Don't know how long any of you here have been Celtic fans, but the Celtics are about winning and winning only. If the seasons they have lost poorly were due to not having the talent or not having good coaching or both. The Celtic organization does not tank and will never tank. For hoping for a lottery pick can be fools gold in any draft. Red all ways took the best player in the draft and it has never changed. I think this team today has the coaching. Stevens recruited players to Butler and made them winners. How many players did he get in the top 50 High School players to his program at Butler? Stevens knows this game of Bball and he willl mold players and get players for his system. They don't have to be a lottery picks. We have some good players to build around and this team has showed they are a team willing to learn the game that Stevens knows best with the talent right now. Both Stevens, DA and the scouts know what they are looking for. TANKING is not in the Celtics language. The Celtics have a lot of options to work with during this season, the up coming off season and some good draft picks. The Celtics have had a tough schedule to start the season with a new coach and players. They have done very well and have been fun to watch at times. When RR returns it will be interesting to see if he can make the team better. Win,Win,Win and play like you want it to win it all this year. That's what the Celtics are about winning not TANKING. If the Celtics have a bad year the Celtics take what they can get to win next season.

    Factually incorrect.

M.L. Carr season 2 was a full-on organizational tank. Ping pong balls just didn't bounce the right way.

    dude, they're 7-11... winning?

He probably means "winning" in a Charlie Sheen kind of way.

I am new.  Been lurking for years, finally decided to start chiming in...

Win everything you can.  Let the chips fall where they may.

    Re: For all Tankers.

"The Celts already tanked twice in the past, in 2007 and 1997."

    Yup.

Cut the BS vertmont. The Celts tanked for Tim Duncan and in 2007 they tanked again and won a championship as a result.

The Spurs, sometimes considered the Patriots of the NBA due to their winning culture, also tanked, and got Duncan.

Tanking is forced in the NBA due to the structure of the league, where one superstar player can impact the fate of a franchise, and almost no franchise-level players EVER slip past the tenth pick.

The best free agent the Celts signed in 20 years is James Posey. That is why Ainge is trying to tank and draft high and why many fans support this approach.

I have nothing against those who don't but it's hilarious when those who most want the Celts to win a championship again, which requires a trip to the lottery, are disparaged as non-fans.

Fans decide who they are, you don't.

    Re: For all Tankers.

Hate to tell you, but this team has enough mediocre talent where it really doesn't have to try to tank.  They can compete, but they will have nights like last night where they lose to one of the worst teams in the league.

Throw in a trade around the deadline and this team will be well on its way to the lottery, and rightly so.  This team needs an infusion of talent and for DA to unearth another Rondo or Tony Parker with this pick it gets from NJ/ATL next draft.

They won't try to lose, but they will.  Pulling for them to get a good player in a deep draft doesn't detract from one's level of fandom.  This is the NBA, where talent wins games.

    Re: For all Tankers.

Thank you Tommy for your comments during last nights game on the Celtics organization that they do not tank. He was very upset of the continous chatter about the Celtics on tanking the season to get a lottery draft pick. As mentioned in the first post the Celtics do not tank. We now who the real Celtics fans are and what the Celtics are about. WINNING!!!

Sullinger all so made a comment about tanking and he said no one in this locker room is playing to tank the season.

    Tankers: It's not the Celtics.

    Re: For all Tankers.

I think overall it's better to win as much as you can to raise the value of the players you have, then parlay them into other picks/players.

Hopefully atlanta and NJ will continue to lose.
