For chrissakes Danny, just give HOU a 2014 pick!

Reports:  Celts offered Bass, Lee, and 2015 1st rd pick from LA to HOU last week and HOU rejected it.  And in the last week HOU hasn't rec'd any better offers.  So Morey is asking us to for a 2014 pick rather than a 2015.  TAKE IT DANNY!

Neither our pick or Atlanta's pick will be a lottery this Spring (especially if we add Asik).  And none of the lottery teams will consider swapping their pick for two of our crappy picks.  So what in the world are we waiting for?  Give Morey his 2014 pick and be done with it!!

what is the damn hurry to get better? We have Rondo coming back, picks stacked up a mountain high. If we can just be a little patient, we will be in the drivers seat as teams beg us to make deals with them.

All Celts need to do is point to the poison pill in Asiks's contract and tell them that's why you're not getting the 2014 draft pick.

Ok explain to me the difference between one of our 2014 picks and the 2015 pick we got from the Clips?  Neither are lottery picks, right?  So what does it matter?

If you think some team may trade their lottery pick for both of our 2014 picks you're insane, it will never happen.

In terms of Player Efficiency Ratings for centers, Asik is ranked 40th in the NBA behind Jermaine O'Neal and Vitor Faverani.

He is, however, ahead of Kelly Olynyk.

Houston needs this deal and I predict it will get done tomorrow with our 2015 1st round pick from the Clippers.  But Danny should not budge.

The Rockets are crazy if they think they're getting any pick from us for 2014.  Oh they can have a 2nd round pick.

They're drunk and they can give me whatever they're drinking for that 2014 pick.

It looks llike they pulled out of all deals but something tells me they may come back with their tails tucked soon.

Yes, but PER doesn't account for defense. His calling card. The Rockets were ten points better (an absurdly high number) when he was on the floor. Not to mention only one other person in the NBA had more rebounds per 36 minutes than he did.

And he actually led the NBA in contested rebounds. You know rebounds where he had to fight for them as opposed to the ones that just land in your hands.

In the advanced stat of win shares. Asik, actually had more last year, than Paul Pierce, Rondo, or KG.

And Finally: He is a good screener.

Asik. is a good player and would have been worth the price Danny offered. I wouldn't over pay for him though.

Petey-  Why?  Please explain.  Why are the 2014 picks more valuable to us than 2015?  If we fail to get Asik, I won’t complain..afterall he is a 56% free throw shooter.  I just want to know what your expectations are for the upcoming draft, heading into it with two crappy picks.  TWO CRAPPY PICKS NEVER EQUATE TO A LOTTERY PICK.  No one’s going to turn around and trade a player like Embiid or Smart for our 16th and 18th (at best) picks.

Re: For chrissakes Danny, just give HOU a 2014 pick!

2014 picks are more valuable than 2015 because the 2014 draft is one of the strongest in decades.  Quality players through first 20 picks.  2015 is projected to be fair.  Any of the top 5 picks this year would be #1 next year.  AND deep at our most vulnerable position - SF.

Also, this year the Celtics record will be worse than next year (as we improve through rebuild), so we want our pick this year.  Also, Brooklyn is collapsing and could go into a fre fall with serious injuries, so who knows how far they will slide.

We need both our picks this year.  No way I switch 2014 for 2015.  Deal breaker if I'm Danny and maybe thats exactly what happened.

It is not quite this simple, but if Offered you a $100 bill and told you you could have it now or next week which would you choose.  Also, 2014 draft is deemed to be the best in years. It is also a matter of predictability.  They have a better idea of how good the pick will be this year then the following year.  Teams get better given enough time usually. Basketball is different than football, but in football a future pick is "worth" generall 1 round less than a pick this year.  The difference is not as extreme in basketball, but you get the idea.

Right. Well since you are a stats geek check this out from ESPN. In 16 appearances this season, Asik is allowing 0.667 points per play, according to Synergy Sports data. Of players with at least 135 possessions defended, Asik ranks fifth in the NBA.  Boston’s first player on that list is rookie center Vitor Faverani at 33rd overall.)

Per doesn't measute Defense.  Do you care about D at all? and rebounding? Because Asik is WAY better than any big the Celtics have had in a long time at those two things.

Real Quick.. The Hawks have the right to switch picks with the nets from Joe Johnson trade. So we want them to fail as well.
