More importantly, there is some speculation that the Celtics have shown interest in trading for him.

Gortat is a good fit for the Celts.
He also refused an extension so the Suns will definitely trade him.

Lee, Melo, and another player like Darko or Collins would be enough to match Gortat's salary. The Celts just need to add a few draft picks to make the offer more enticing.

C'mon they are going to want more than that. What a steal if we can get him for so little. -

If the reports are true then Gortat's time with the Suns is up. That means he's not part of their future plans.Fab Melo and future picks are not so little.

True!Fab Melo is a project like Perk.
If the Celts want to win now then they have no choice but to let Melo go if it brings back Gortat.

A bonus of getting Gortat is that it would shutup runrunandrun for awhile.

They mention Bradley and/or Sully in that link as trade bait. Would not like us to lose either. Maybe Fab, Lee, Bass, and a #1 pick?

Salaries won't match if you include Bass. Lee, Melo, and picks would suffice. But if the Suns want to package Gortat and Dudley, then Bass, Lee, Melo, and picks would be the way to go.
The Suns might want to rid themselves of Dudley's contract, 12.75m for 3 more years after this season.

The Suns could use a SG, they wanted Mayo, Lee would be a solid long-term signed only 26 years old guy for them. Gortat is really their only C but in Morris and Scola they have some guys who can slide to the 5, and we'd be giving them Melo. Team is better off picking in the 3-6 range at this point than 7-12, which is where they'd be if they keep Gortat.
Of course signed to a fair deal, 7.7m, through next year, they aren't going to give him away. Lee, Melo, Collins and a pick sounds all well and good but of course they are going to ask for Avery or Sully.

Kirk, Rivers won a title with Perk, you don't think he'd play a guy who sets great picks and gets 10 boards a game again? Or is that just bitter sarcasm?

For all those dreaming of the still unrealistic Varejao idea, Gortat is a more realistic and exciting name to think about. Certainly many teams out there could trump a Lee, Melo and pick(s) package, and Avery is needed to defend Wade. Sully might be the guy to go if such a trade were to happen. Bass, Wilcox, Green and KG would all still be here to play PF.
Speaking of Green, I'd prefer to swap him for Dudley in any deal over giving up Sully or Bradley. Green-Melo-Lee for Gortat-Dudley-Telfair is a 14.5m for 13 million swap.

According to Hoopshype that article in Polish has Orlando, Dallas and Chicago as also being very interested.
Not sure The Mavs or Bulls could really trump an offer from us.... but Orlando, with all their picks from dealing Howard, SG's the Suns might like over Lee in Afflalo (much better) and Redick (= to) and Andrew Nicholson, who has the same value as Sully, could probably trump our offer or make us include a guy like Bradley or Sully we don't want to part with.
