HEALTHY GREG ODEN, PP AS SIXTH MAN +JUMP-SHOOTING RONDO= RING NEXT YEAR!

danny is going to sign greg oden this off-season to man the middle as jo comes off the bench til a healthy shaq can contribute at some point. oden and kg will certainly be even better than perk/kg. we would be a perfect destination for him. he will definitely get minutes without all the pressure of being a savior or a top option as he was in portland. he can just focus on playing defense and rebounding.

this offseason i belive the #1 assignment for rondo will be to become a chris paul-derrick rose type point guard on offense. this means he will have to average between 14-18 points a game depending on how great his jump shot  becomes. he will be aceraging 20 shots a game. its about time the OFFENSE is based around rondo actually scoring with the big 3 complimenting and facilitating things for the little one. the script has to flip!

pp would instantly be a mchale level 6th man, definitely the best right now in the mode of what manu meant for the spurs. he will play about 30 minutes and playing up to 4 positions during the course of the game. he can come in first for kg, than move over for ray at the 2. jeff green will be much better with a full preseason starting at the 3 and playing about 35 to 40 minutes along with rondo. if we keep a troy murphy or more likely get a more athletic replacement, he could play about 10-15 minutes at the pf and perhaps play some center.

if these 3 scenarios alone work out esp with shaq, jo and perhaps even krstic on the bench, our team will make a huge leap in scoring and victories. a healthy oden instantly makes us more athletic in an area we have been very unathletic for years. we will also reclaim the paint, making us more competitive against the heat who we will have to go through if we have any intentions of getting to the finals.

Being able to shoot is not the role of a point guard

Being able to get to the line is not the role of a point guard

Being able to make 3s is not the line of a point guard

Where do you come up with these crazy ideas?

Rondo is the worst of the remaining point guards.... with Rose, Kidd, Conley, and LeBron the Cs are still playing......

If you are already the best at what you do why on earth would try to learn how to actually shoot?

You are really missing the boat here... the goal should be to find players that ensure that Rondo remains the worst shooter in the league but render it irrelevant.....

touche dud. i know ur using sarcasm but i get you. rondo is the WORSE of all the point guards remaining. westbrook i sbetter. just earlier in the season i too was on the bandwagon saying he was the best and would be an automatic all-star for the rest of his career. interstingly the all-nba team was named today and not one celtic was anywhere on it. rr came closest but would qualify for the fidth team if there were one. rr's stock has gone way down as he has become exposed and as others now know his real limits. the word has spread. had rr just bben able to consistently take a shot or get to the line by using his athleticism to attack the rim (the only guy on the celts right now with capacity to do so), we would have WON the series! hurt or not, doc would have had to bench him. heck, had west played the entire series with rondo's usual minutes, it may be 3-2 celtics right now. rr still has the most innate athletic talent than anyone on the celts. but he has to accelerate his development as d-rose did this past off-season. same ole rondo, means same ole results for us in the same ole way. if he's plateaued, we will have to get rid of him by the trade deadline. the first 10 games of next season should tell us what we have.

I just like to goad you to get another pic....

I am of the belief that West with a training camp and preseason, the Cs are no worse off for a season.... for some reason it is ridiculous to see a point guard that once he gives up the ball is actually still part of the team, making 3s, getting to the line - making 85% of his jumpers, knocking down jumpers, etc. and not creating an automatic double team for Ray or Paul or KG...... all of this is lost on the pass first point guard ret ards.....

touche CC.... well done!   What is amazing is that most posters here watch the games and see Rondo with nobody within 15 feet of him and the announcers basically laughing at him and continue to think that having Steve Nash would be a bad thing when Nash makes that wide open jumper and goes to the line and makes them at 90% and they are still in the series.... Nash as we all know is just one example...... one of at least a dozen.......

    Posted by TheDUDDER
our biggest prob has been putting the ball in the hole. not defense. last 2 games we lost in the same way in the same way we lost it last year in game 6 and 7 and so many games this year. rather than closing the games late, celts have been bogged down agin and again as we always have rr on the floor. the key point that illustrated that yesterday was when wade was shadowing rr and he just completely left him and went down to double down on kg. rr was within 15 feet of the hoop with absolutely noone around or noone coming towards him. rondo just froze as reggie miller giggled at his mortification and total disrespect. had he taken it to the hole, he would have ended up at the foul line. had he taken the shot, he likely would have bricked since he had so much hesitation. rr instead chose to force the ball to kg anways as wade tipped it at the last second right off kg... another TURNOVER. thats what happens. any wonder we are amongst the league leaders in turnovers?

if west returns and rr doesnt get with the program, we may routinely see him play the entire 3rd quarter but be on the bench for entire 4th quarters as was the case yesterday. close games will always end with west at the point, with big 3 and perhaps green or a greg oden (shoots well at the foul line).

Great, let's team the oft-injured Oden with an aging KG.  And Rondo is going to miraculously find his jump shot next year AND PP will agree to come off the bench?  Nice try.  Put down the Green Kool-Aid and let's get back to reality.

Re: HEALTHY GREG ODEN, PP AS SIXTH MAN +JUMP-SHOOTING RONDO= RING NEXT YEAR!

    Examiner.com

Portland Trail Blazers fans have been on the fence over Greg Oden for a long time, attempting to balance their anger over his constant injuries and their emotional connection to a man who desperately wants to make them happy. On Thursday, Oden's agent said that the former no. 1 overall pick would be healthy and prepared to perform in the 2011-12 season.

Mike Conley, Oden's agent, said that he expects Oden will be ready to go.

"I know that he'll play next year, and as long as he keeps his weight down, he'll get back to being the Greg we knew, being able to run and jump and everything. The thing is keeping him healthy and give him the confidence to play without being scared."

"I think there will be offer sheets on him and he'll have an opportunity to earn more at Portland, or if Portland doesn't want to match it, he can play somewhere else. I know there will be some teams interested," Conley told the www.indystar.com/article/20110505/SPORTS04/105050384/Notebook-Oden-will-back-Greg-we-knew-agent-says">Indianapolis Star.

Oden sat out the entire 2010-11 season after undergoing microfracture surgery just weeks before he was expected to return from his devastating December 2009 injury. In all, Oden has played the equivalent of one full NBA season (82 games) over his 4-year professional career after being drafted first overall by Portland in the 2007 draft.

My guess is that Oden will never be able to play any significant minutes or he'll have season-ending injuries, just as he's had so far.  The microfracture surgery doesn't cure the cartilage problem, it just allows for scar tissue to act as cartilage does to buffer the femur and the tibia, but only for a while.  Most players who've had the procedure haven't come back as the same player; Amar'e, while one of the better outcomes, is a rarity.  Oden appears to have "loose" ligaments, which make his knees especially susceptible to injury.  Added to this, his size and the stress of his weight on his knees make for a poor prognosis.  He should stay in Portland.

I was thinking the same thing... Oden isn't a beacon of hope or a cornerstone of reliability

Adding him just adds one more coin flip that has to come up the right way in order for the Celtics to all stay healthy and compete

Don't get me wrong: for the right money, Oden's a great idea, but he's far from a sure thing

Oden moves like he's got a million pieces - a very fragile player indeed.  Fact is, he's played about 1 full season in his 4 seasons in the NBA.

Haven't you learned your lesson yet with beat up big men?

Oden is not going to have a productive NBA career. I love the guy but it's not happening. oden will NOT be on our team. Shaq will likely not be back, if he is back, will you put any trust in him?

I'd appreciate it if before you made any more predictions on this board you could acknowledge that your predictions about this year involving Shaq's integral role in getting us another ring, Shaq this, Shaq that, Shaq is coming back when, etc WERE TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY WRONG.

    Posted by icnd
my SOURCES! also the past doesnt equal the future! like it or not of all the athletic centers out there, oden stil represents the highest upside. everyone goes back and complains about sam bowie who also had a similar path so far as health and knee issues. after his fourth year, bowie went on to have a very productive and relatively LONG career. obviously medical science has come a long way from the bowie days. i see no reason with stem cell technology (ask bartolo colon) and even hgh that mr. oden could not come back even better than he once was. before has injury he was LEADING the league in block shots with over 10 reboounds a game and was averaging almost 15 points a game as he was finally realizing his potential. there's no reason the celts should not offer him a 2 year 11.5M deal! with a clean slate, kg and doc around, i see no reason y he cant come and potentially thrive here. if a shaq, jo and even krstic could come back, it will certainly help mr. oden and our overall center position.

I wouldnt touch Greg Oden with a 10 foot pole unless he was gifted to us.

We've had so much agony the last 3 season over injuries, the last I want to bring in is the injury posterboy.. I wont even go into his play, just a simple NO!!
