Heat go Small and Win , Spurs should have stayed Big

Miami was smart, they could not match up and beat the Spurs going big. So they sat their big man Anderson and played a 3 guard line up. Allen 33 minutes,Chalmers 33 min, Miller 21 min, Cole 19 min,Wade 40 min. Haslem only 10 minutes, Anderson 0 min, Anthony 0 min.

The Spurs tried to match up and sat their center Ti ao Splitter only 14 minutes played and got blown out. The Spurs have no chance playing small ball against the best small ball team in the NBA . The Spurs should have gone big and forced the Heat to play bigger.  If Pop stays small, this series is over,Heat will win in 6 games.

Give the Heat credit, very smart move, like a chess match. Anderson was playing great yet they were losing, not many coaches would have sat a player playing well.

Your Move Pop ,  play your bigs or it is check mate!

Wow, finally a good post of you! The first I ever read. You are right, unlike some user thought, small ball sometimes works.

Small ball does work IF the other teams panics and goes small as well. It works better in the NBA because teams can't play real zones, 3 second call. In college small ball dosn't work as teams play true zones and the big men don't have to cover the small guys out front.

This is a thread that OldFool has start that is very subtle, he is basically saying the Heat lost because they didn't play enough white players. Clever but still quite racist.

I agree that going small against the best small team in the NBA is "peeing" up wind.

We have basically gone small since Perk went down in Game 6 vs Lakers in 2010. Yup, we've had KG but he is not a banger Center in the post but one of the best PF from 5-15 ft out.  All our other 6'11"--7' Centers were mediocre !!!

Why did Golden State give the Spurs a scare...Andrew Bogut played very well in the post & this is without David Lee, their allstar PF and best rebounder.

Why did the Pacers advance so far...Hibbert !

Why did OKC not advance ----Durant not really a Center and Perkins has lost it in the last 2 years.

Even the hated Lakers 3 years ago with the twin towers of Gasol & Bynum were always competitive with only Kobe the other HOF in the back court.

Don't need to be Sherlock Holmes here...we need to draft 1-2 BIGGIES !!!

Come on, Perk was done years ago and still OKC went to the finals last year. As soon as Westbrook went down, they were doomed cause they only had Durant left to create sth on his own especially after Harden was traded for Martin.
