we can get young talent for Rondo, like two picks, like what Philly got for Jrue Holiday. But you'd prefer bad contracts for supplemental players at best?

we have 6 picks in the next three years..how many draft picks you need?

    you can't have all rookies!

Asik is a solid NBA  Center with two years left on his deal

I'm starting to think that rather than swallowing Asik's poison pill it would be better to offer Pekovic a poison pill that the TWolves can't swallow. That may get you a top three Center among the top ten available FA's this summer ... Howard, Jefferson, Pekovic, Bynum, Kaman, Andersen, Pachulia, Erden, Dalembert and Kristic.

No time like the present to get a center for the next 5 yrs even if Pekovic is deemed too risky. Jefferson would be my 2nd pick after Pek and Pachulia could be the best fit for a tanking season as he's coming back from achilles surgery and won't be ready early on. He'll fly under the radar and come cheaper than his worth ... a good transition center that won't be a cap buster.

    That's dumb!

Clearly there is something wrong with you.

How can the Celtics offer Pek a poison pill contract when the Celtics are a team over the salary cap?

Are you saying that the C's will not be able to get their cap down to $48-50MM?

And are you also saying that a contract with a starting salary of $7MM won't fit under the cap if the C's get their payroll down to $50MM?

Are you also saying that if Pekovic agrees to an offer with the C's that the Wolves wouldn't be interested in doing a S&T to get something back????

In a poison pill the contract is low for 2-3 yrs but escalates to some balloon figure like $15MM in the final year. Seems to me the C's will be pretty well established by 2016 and not major players in the FA market with a 1st round pick in 2018 and the right to swap picks with Nets in 2017. I'd prefer to have the center of my choice locked up now for the next four years while there's one to get. After these guys are gone there could be another long draught for centers just when our rebuild is complete.

    Wow!

You're going to continue to be the board idiot?

If that's the case then be my guest.

Now, the Celtics are at 68.3m once the trade to Brooklyn becomes official.

    Here's what you said:

"I'm starting to think that rather than swallowing Asik's poison pill it would be better to offer Pekovic a poison pill that the TWolves can't swallow."

Since when did you mention the Celtics going below the cap to 48-50m?

You only told us that instead of swallowing Asik's poison pill, the Celts offer Pekovic a poison pill that the T-Wolves can't swallow.

Was there a mention of the Celtics going down to 48-50m when you made that post?

    Of course not.

Now you're just trying to weasel your way out again.

    Ugh!

    [/QUOTE]

Please ... I know where the C's stand on Payroll vs the Cap ... Dealing for Asik only involves trading players and we have those but making an offer for a restricted free agent means having the means to sign him outright if the other team doesn't want to engage in a S&T. You must be an idiot if you thought I was more ignorant than you! Jeesh ... you are a dope!

And you are sidestepping my questions as usual trying to make me look like I proposed one thing then changed my own proposal to satisfy your response ... Hahaha you're a loser!

    Another false statement.

The Celtics CANNOT offer Pekovic a contract because the Celtics are a team over the cap.

You made 3 false statements in one post!

    Wow!

That has got to be a BDC record, no?

There you go again! Did I say the C's would try to offer a deal to Pek or anyone else before paring down there roster? Everyone on this board assumes, for good reason, that Danny intends to (and even said so himself) pare the roster down ... that means two or more for one, waivers, TPE's etc. He can't do anything until he makes a few moves with the current roster and are you telling me that you're the only ignorant SOB on these boards that doesn't know that and is incapable of reading a post without making obvious assumptions?

Oh yeah, nevermind ... you are the BDC President of Reading for a Lack of Comprehension ... I forgot ... My apologies for your simpleton complex!!!

I am not the biggest Rondo fan, but the trashing of him on here is just stupid. Why, when all of the people in the "know" refer to him as one of the best point guards in the league, do the Celtic fans on here just lamb-baste him daily? Magic even refers to him as the best in the league!! Do the Celtic fans on here just know more about basketball then the experts do? I dont think so. LOL! Quit thinking with your heart and think with your mind! Yes he has flaws, so do every player in the NBA! Not every team can have one of the best 6 to 10 best players in the league. ANd I believe Rondo is JUST outside that range. He is a selfless player, his jump shot improved greatly last year, and as he ages he will mature. I do believe the best thing for him and the Celtics was getting a new coach. Even Larry Legend says after 3 years, the players just tune the coach out. A new voice in Rondo's head will do wonders for his maturity. This layoff with his injury will also help him to see what to do differently. There is no reason to rebuild when we do have talent like Rondo, Green, Bradle, Sullinger, and 2 - 7 footers from the draft! With 4 extra picks via the various trades plus our own, we are in a good place! Better than when we were at the end with Bird, McHale, and Parish!

"but rondo is not a superstar"

by the defintion of that article, Rondo certainly would be a valid third superstar with Harden and Howard. Not sure that's a good three, but it might work.

By strict definition there may be only five superstars in the league. That's not what this article is talking about.

By this article's view point, Chris Bosh is a superstar, and if Bosh is a superstar, so is Rondo.

    Glad i could help out
