Don't we have a couple of trade exemptions we can add to the pot?

Another option is: CP3 and Okafor - 29 million Rondo - 10 Green - 5.9 Avery - 1.5 Jermaine - 6.2 23.6 125 % above 23.6 is 29.5 juuuuuusst works. Amnesty Okafor if you have a shot at Howard. Send 2 future 1st rd picks (but no the Clips pick) as well. Pierce and JuJuan Johnson would just cost 18 million next year. We could sign CP3/Howard AND have a lil spare change to boot. Paul and Dwight would have to decide if they want to pair with Pierce, Johnson, a 1st rd pick likely in the teens and whatever we can use the two MLE's for. Ray and KG could return for veteran minimum deals and/or the MLE's. That is likely better than the core they would join on any other team with 40 million in cap space.

That is what I have been saying for two weeks - include Okafor in the deal, and they think they would do it!!  Andk KEEP him, DH will not come here!!

And Xavier/Abdelnaby were not the most tragic contracts that killed a rebuilding team in my opinion. It was Pervis Ellison, Dominique and Dana Barros that were signed to idiotically make us a team drafting in the teens and taking Antoine 6th over a team drafting in the top 10 in 94/95 and top 3 in 96/97.

    Basically M L Carr's time in charge

I dont understand why the Hornets would want Green and Baby when they could have Buynum or Gasol? Or Curry?

We need a third team involved, like Rame is suggesting.

I am suggesting that we "Godfather" them, and say we will take their worst contract - Okafor in the deal.  IF we can get DH next year (I predict he stays in ORL, BTW, always have), we can waive Okafor......if not, while limited offensively, he is signed for a few more years and is a good defender, who would be better under Doc!!  (sounds like Perk!)

Rondo has had his brand severely damaged since the Perk trade.  Curry is not a real point guard and he is too small to be a real SG.   Rondo in the right situation can be a real asset. Imagine Rondo going to Lakers, what would they be willing to give up  that would have  equal value.  He would be a star there as he was on the Celtics.

In Response to Re: Here is a 3 team trade that works well for everyone : Bynum or Gasol would be great if the Hornets still had CP3. Without a great PG Bynum or Gasol would not be used at their full potential. The Celts are offering Rondo, Jeff Green, and draft picks. Maybe the Hornets think Curry is a better PG than Rondo.

I agree with you about trading Bynum and Gasol.  New Orleans would then need a point guard.  Curry is a good point guard, but probably not better than Rondo.
